IF we did come to sell Johnson at some point(I think Smurf would negotiate a good price and sell on fee tbh) we would still have a good number 2 in Boot who is another good prospect(if we can keep him)

Sam deserved to start,Did ok but needs to put some serious work into his kicking,Pope was getting very frustrated having to run 10-15 yards everytime he hit a ball to him.

Weren't Celtic linked with Johnson last season as well? Johnson is a good keeper (as is Neal). I have no problem with whichever one of those two plays. He and McGivern were our two standout players yesterday over the whole 90 minutes.

I was telling people I know that I think Adams will go with him after seeing him against WBA and he didn't let anyone down,for me we have got to offer him something now or he will go for peanuts in the summer as I am certain Premier league teams will be watching him,i do think if we tie him down he could go on to be our next million pound player..i am that confident

Had a cracking game and showed why he was picked yesterday. Good to see MA's giving him his chance.

 

Think Neal will play on Tuesday tho. Tough decision time for MA's in that position, which is good.

 

Like another poster said big Sam could be on his way to a bigger club.

That Grew's coaching for you Neal does the same thing they both don't release the ball fast enough when player are in space.

Don't get me wrong, the defence left him hopelessly exposed but if he stays big then I don't think the lad scores.

 

He's got potential but for me Neal is the more consistent keeper at this stage.

I think your not far off, grew commented in an article late April about more Prem clubs watching Vale games, no suggestion it was specifically because of Sam but wouldn't at all surprise... 6ft 7, great shot stopper, only 21?!? Huge potential...

Thoroughly agree with those who say Sam had a very good game. I thought he should have been Man Of The Match. With regard to his distribution: Sam always tries to distribute the ball to a Vale player and looks for one nearby before hoofing it hopefully up the field for Pope or someone to fight for. If the defenders and midfield would look to take up position, instead of turning their backs, this would help both Sam's distribution and the team.

It would also help if Lines distributed the ball when it is passed out to him and stopped hoofing the ball back to the keeper from the centre circle.

I thought he struggled with a few of the high balls into the box today. He flapped at the ball a couple of times and that didn't help the defence.

 

u mad? everything he came for he got enough on to get it away from danger. he caught everything that was catcable, and a lot of the others he seemed to push up and away to the far side for walsall throws.

Spot on! He looked clumsy at times but always got the ball away from the danger area . He did ok on Saturday.

All he needs do is learn how to kick and he will be a quality keeper
