It's getting a bit concerning that we only have 1 worthy forward in the squad at the moment. We really need someone to play alongside Pope and a Pope replacement for when needed.

We probably pushed the boat out to get O'Connor today, don't think we can push it out again for Patterson, so I doubt very much he will be joining us now, still the team ,after today, is better IMO, than we had hoped for.

I'm delighted to see from today that we will, indeed, see a bustling creative midfield with pacy wide men. Lines and O'Connor being a crucial part of it. We may get another forward and defender but I would guess loans too.

 

I don't want to have a go at 'Pops' as he was always one of my favourite players back in the day, but although he says it's just fun, I hope he won't jump the gun in predicting failure and lack of ambition so readily again. As someone pointed out, talks take time, and Smurf may well have played a blinder this week. I like reading what ray has to say, but sometimes think it upsets some Vale fans a little.

 

I don't mind his odd PR gaffe if he keeps restocking the 'sweetie jar', we might have to learn not to take Smurf's every word so literally.

It's been a good week for Port Vale, let's hope MA can mould his new squad into a force that competes with the Sheffield Uniteds and North Ends and continues our steady unstoppable climb. UTV.
