Neymar OUT of the World Cup.........

The Brazil vs Colombia game was intense and to some extent exciting but it showed some of the darker side of South American football. The knee in the back of Neymar was a disgrace and if the Spanish ref had taken control of the game earlier on by issuing yellow cards it may not have happened.

Dreadful referee, and he lost control of the game as early as the 5th minute. After that, Brazil did whatever they wanted and got away with it.

The ref was indirectly responsible for Neymar's injury, and no card issued either for a bad challenge. FIFA should send this ref home and banish him to the lower leagues in Spain, although they may not want him.

Yeah, nasty spiteful challenge that went out to stop the player at all costs.

As ever, the player himself tries to excuse it by using the "love of the national shirt" argument.

It would be much better for the culprit to come out and apologise - a broken vertebrae is evidence that he was well out of order.

I grow tired of players excusing cheating with lies.

Oh well. Ironic that after the way they kicked Colombia about for 90 minutes its their star man who ends up in hospital.

No sympathy. You play with feathers, you're gonna get your **** tickled.

That's my view also, Brazil got away with murder 31 fouls the ref was awfull, in fact worse than the ones we get at vp if that's possible.

Watched the game with some Brazilians in Birmingham and they were very unhappy with Scolari and his tactics but obviously delighted with the result. Interesting they said the referee had taken charge of one of their games a couple of seasons ago and he was very lenient then. They predicted lots of fouls before the match. Even they were appalled at some of the tackles on Rodriguez.

The redo cultus thing was the Brazilians got away with them and then Rodriguez was cautioned for his first!

I felt this was like a game from the 1960's and 1970's where each side has a couple of thugs who can target the opposition star player again and again with fouls to "reduce" that star player or get him withdrawn through injury. By modern standards the referee lost control of this game from early in the first half onwards and it was both teams at it. In the end the tackle on Neymar was an assault intended to cause serious injury and it has robbed the world cup of one of its star players and given Germany an unfair benefit in the semi final.
