With the exception of Mohamed (who to be fair hasn't had hardly any matches to show what he has) Micky Adams' recent signings have all been top notch - Lines, Dickinson, Robertson, Tomlin all strengthened the side in the summer - while Grimmer looks good and we will unfortunately never know what Cuvelier could have brought to the side.

 

Compared to his first spell where there were some real "hit and miss" signings (Jamie Guy, Tommy Fraser) we do seem to do really well at getting some good players to the squad. Whether that's due to the higher division attracting better quality, the chief scout George Foster (who Adams seems to rate highly), financial backing from the owner or the manager's own ability to spot a good player, it all looks good on the pitch.

 

Its probably a combination of all things but primarily the money that Smurthwaite's budget has permitted.

Good signing, shame he isnt eligible for the weekend though

 

I believe we have enough for Saturday anyway with the present squad who know each other well, especially as Grimmer is now available. Billy can train with the squad and see what's expected of him for our League campaign. Trust Adams to slot him in correctly.:yes:

No matter how much money is available the manager has to use it wisely..plenty of big money signings have failed (not at the Vale obviously :) )

 

Credit where credit is due..MA has picked some good uns this season

Oh and I lost a bet with myself as I was sure you would be the first on this thread to come up with a play on his name. You are slipping JA! ;)

If MA sees potential in him this could be a good signing. The lad ought to be very keen to prove his worth with the Vale. Should be good news for us, then!
