Personally I think we have under utilised him.

 

I can't work out whether it's lack of fitness or that MA doesn't think that he's good enough. Or both!

I've loved having Hughesy here but I think he's played his last game for us other than the odd subs appearance. He'll be a big earner plus wont want to be sat on the bench when he's probably only got another 18months max left at this kind of level

I think Hughes has been used by Adams very well whilst he's been at the club personally. Done what he was brought into do, especially last season. But i think with his age being what it is, plus the fact that we need to start bringing our own young players through, then if he did leave in Jan, i wouldn't be to disappointed. Now we have the emergence of Hugill, Williamson, Tomlin showing form & Pope, then i think Hughes's wages would be better off spent elsewhere on the squad, or just used to improve the contracts of the key players we need to keep, Lines etc...

I would say thanks for last season and go get another club where you'll get a game. He has done exactly what MA bought him in to do and we cannot ask any more.

I did say at the start of the season he would not feature too often and got blasted for it, I think age is catching up with his legs.

He's still scored more than Willo and Hugill for us this season hasn't he?

Hughill has a better stirke rate though, he has scored 2 in six appearances and also scored 6 for Gateshead in about 7 appearances. I think we have had our use out of Hughes, better for him and us if he can find another club.

If I was a beeting man I reckon he will go this month and it will be to a team like Oxford or Fleetwood.

I think I must be the only one wanting to keep him. I'd much prefer to trim the fat with ineffective players that don't play.

 

What if him leaving meant we could offer Dicko and Lines better deals?

personally if hughes going meant we could bring in a decent centre half then i would be happy . if hughes goes and no one is brought in either on loan or permanent transfer it will be a disappointment. if hughes does go all i can say is a big thankyou to hughesy , as he was a key player in that final push to get us promoted THANKS LEE.

Noticed clucas who we were linked with has scored 11 goals from midfield. McCombe on the other hand has played 4 league games.
