All Britannia branches to become Co-ops

Another bank trying to be entrepreneurial! Spending £1billion on a system which was never implemented.

And taking 1000's of jobs from our local area. Nice ethos.

The Rochdale cobblers and cabinetmakers who formed the Co-op 170 years ago will be turning in their graves.

It's all very sad as the Coop image will be atrnished for a long time by this and the reality behind the image will take a long time to recover as well. The whole recruitment of Rev Flowers will surely be delved into and much much more is I believe set to emerge to the detriment of ther CooP regarding that.

Well done the Daily Mail for exposing Flowers and for demonstrating why we must maintain a free press..would this have come out with increased press regulastion..I doubt it

Co-op is no longer a co-operative society but owned by American hedge funds who will ruthlessly exploit both employees and customers. My advice to employees is to make sure you get the maximum redundancy payments to which you are entitled. To investors in Britannia, take your money out as soon as possible - you can transfer an ISA to another firm's ISA without affecting you annual investment allowance. To any insured with Britannia, shop around for a better deal or consult a broker. And any who owe money to Britannia (e.g. mortgage) should seek to renegotiate with a different firm. You might also wish to agitate to ensure the government stops the reckless sale of British businesses to overseas developers and asset strippers.

Spot on would this story have seen the light of day under the proposed regulations? I think not.

It will be interesting to see the clash between the owners and the various charters which the CooP is bound by

But anyone who does deal with the CooP bank should ask themselves if they still wish to continue with it given its new ownership

Very true. At the end of the day, it's going to be the same as any other high street bank. I presume they'll stop at some point with all the 'compelling co-operative alternative to high street bank' marketing plans and shuffle in the background.
