Vale/BBC Radio Stoke

I think there's a "contract" in place regarding who broadcasts the games. I think normally this is with the local BBC station of the club concerned but I did see a news article recently (unfortunately I cannot remember the club) which announced a club having a new contract with a local commercial station.

So, I guess it would be up to Signal to "bid" for the Vale games.

I also think that the contract allows BBC Stoke the right to broadcast the games but I don't think there is an obligation for them to do so (which is probably why they have left out the odd one over the years) although it would make sense having agreed the contract for them to broadcast all of them.

I agree with other posters that the Valiant World subscription is good value for exiles and the revenue helps the club too.

That makes sense Rob. I'm sure there have been posts on here suggesting that BBC Stoke dont pay anything to Vale for the rights to cover them? If so this could be a lost revenue source.

Although I guess there is an intangible benefit for the club. Having it on a widely available local broadcaster helps publicise the club so the Vale will benefit from that exposure.

In the 90s both radio stoke and signal did livr broadcasts of vale games if I remember right

I think they did - but like a lot of things in football I believe the rights have since been tightened up and you need to have the relevant contract to do the live games...

Id just like to know why we are on MW and Crewe are on DAB? After all, the radio station is bbc radio stoke and Vale are a lot closer to Stoke than Crewe. MW radios are terrible and no where near as popular as FM & DAB radios. Sort it out...

Not everyone has a DAB radio. Many people have a radio that can get MW though. Not many cars have DAB radio's.

Yes I agree with that. You would thing signal would be a better platform to market the club on as the BBC are not meant to promote companies.

Signal maybe could reach a young audience as well?

Easier just to use Doha's link?

In the just the same way, instead of buying a ticket, you could climb over a wall to get into the ground.

I appreciate some folks don't have a lot of money.

I have listened to Vale matches for years on MW so what is the problem. Is it lets have a change from moaning. About the club, and moan about local radio instead. There are a lot of fans, elderly etc who rely on local radio, and I for one think they do a good job.
