They've missed a trick here. Why have they allowed a child to design this badge? It's out of proportion and doesn't look as good as the original badge it's based on. They should have either gone for something completely original or stuck to the timeless classic from back in the day.

I'm actually going to miss the current badge now that we're adapting this mutated monstrosity. Hopefully it'll look better in embroidered form than this naff computer generated creation.

Bitterly disappointed...

Totally, totally agree. The current one has a real modern feel to it still, it's plain and simple which means it stands out in the press etc. The 'new' one is far too cluttered, the objects needed modernising and why have 2 pots?

I just can't see this looking fresh and modern on say a Nike or Adidas shirt. Really, really disappointed this is potentially going to be the badge we'll be associated with for years to come.

for me I like it, thses days a lot of sports gear is "retro", take a look at all the Adidas Originals gear, if they bring out a retro style shirt to go with it, a decent make where we can buy polo shirts or a track suit top that does not look like it came off the old Vale market I will be happy. The last time we had a decent home shirt that was of good quality was the Mizuno one, ever since then with Valiant Leisure and Vandammel and the like they have been rubbish. Anything similar to the strips between 97 and 2002 would be great for me, preety much plain white with the black cuffs and the black V style collar too.

I think it has potential to confuse the brand, which is not a good idea from a marketing perpective. The other badge is very widely recognised and is displayed in many places. To rebrand the whole club would cost a significant amount of money so I hope we are not going to do that. Only about 20% of our fanbase voted in favour so it is hardly giving the fans what they want. Most important thing to concentrate on is promotion, get the details right if and when that happens. Won't encourage new supporters to come and watch because we have a nice badge.

If you don't vote you don't count in a referendum or election, no government ever gets a majority of the electorate, it is how it is. Change is for the better, it has to start somewhere, but it will never please everyone. I would have preferred the Staffs knot to be black instead of yellow, but that maybe traditional.

I like it, i would like to of seen the Staffordshire Knot in the badge in place of One of the Two Portland Vases but that's all. I'm also so glad that we will have a team to support and a Shirt to put it on, well done to Wildes and the Smurf, both of them stars.

Agree with that.

How people can say a badge that a school kid designed at school one afternoon be better than a badge that has a meaning of the local area is beyond me well done smurf and wildes I'm with u on this

Hasn't the new one been designed by a school kid (or at least through the 'drawn by a school kid' filter in Photoshop) with a limited knowledge of fonts? Maybe it was done by the same branding company as confused.com
