Vale pay final bill to council.

Why are you getting so invovled in this discussion? You should be happy at your flat pack stadium, watching overpaid fairies rolling about, surrounded by plastic fans watching hoofball. So, why are you here?

Adding to the conversation......the truth not sitting right with you then?

That market was illegal and took money away from Burslem itself.

The local businesses were ecstatic when it was closed down as i took trade away from them.

Cant have it both ways

Stoke can have no complaints about council loans especially when theirs was interest free..without that and coates stoke would be nowhere yet vale had a business opportunity taken away from them (not illegal) because of the councils own market which clashed (not sure where that is now) and as for the local businesses who were happy vales closed who were they and where are they now..(vale werent even allowed to sell sports goods from their shop) plus these businesses had no more or less competition from the existing market anyway......flawed point from you

If a tesco wants to open a supermarket the council let them in the name of jobs, but seemlessly forget about the independents who really lose out & causes more damage when they close.

They werent allowed to sell sports goods from the shop because it wasnt a sports shop so again were breaking the laws.

They were selling football boots etc and that is not allowed

like i say vale weren't allowed, hence not breaking any law. However a superstore can open anywhere as they have the council by the balls ..the independent clothes, butcher,tv,card, newsagent etc etc shops lose out no thought then and greater damage...yet vale's income was cut off .

as you say can't have it bothways

Have a look around the area where the Britannia Stadium is built.

It was the catalyst for regeneration and Trentham Lakes has now got umpteen businesses and sports complexes around it meaning jobs for the local people so it was money well spent......it was also money from the EU and IT HAD to be spent on that site and it was regeneration of the Hem Heath site

The cash given to Vale will see the city council and local people getting absolutely nothing from it.

£1.5m is a hell of a lot of money to lose for a council about to make massive cuts.

Facts eh...i love em

Come on now wezzer, behave thee sen! The money behind your vendetta has come from one mans ability to exploit the degeneration that social disintergration, a taboo, has developed in the last 10 years.

Freehold of the Brit sold back to the club at a quarter of its then land market value on an interest free loan costing the taxpayer approximately £15 million, sort of makes what they lost on vale a drop in the ocean. More facts Stokies seem to forget.

Or will try to deny.

The real concern is the council effectively gave up there half stake in the Community stadium enabling the business to be driven forward giving the City a huge boost not least financially.

Where as with Vale there already appears real concern that players will be sold to fund the council repayment thus meaning the new owners will have got the club for nothing, with no benefit to the City or the fans.

The council did the right thing. But if you were a parent with a disabled child whose restbite care had been cut you'd be pretty annoyed. The two aren't always intrinsically linked but people don't always see it like that

It's disgusting that anything like that should be affected anyway - especially when you've got some fatcat earning £200,000 plus a year.

The same goes for nursing and care homes - they should be a priority.

Port Vale and Vale Park however are an essential part of the community and that's before we consider the childrens centre and the new projects the owners are working on.

What players are going to be sold to fund the repayment?

The site of trentham lakes is attractive to businesses despite the football ground rather than because of it. It is perfectly placed on the road network with the A500 access to M6 north an south the A50 east to connect with the M1. The nonsense about the football ground being a catalyst to its development really is a rather old red herring, which came about with the creative accounting practised when it was built.

Infact it was so well planned ;) they had to put in a bridge as an afterthought.Who paid for that?

Didn't the council also get a child day care centre out of it?

Which is more than they got from the so called community stadium.

It is a Community stadium.

They have weight watchers, all in Wrestling, plane spotting and literacy classes there every other Saturday. Not forgetting the care in the community programme.
