Have a look around the area where the Britannia Stadium is built.

It was the catalyst for regeneration and Trentham Lakes has now got umpteen businesses and sports complexes around it meaning jobs for the local people so it was money well spent......it was also money from the EU and IT HAD to be spent on that site and it was regeneration of the Hem Heath site

The cash given to Vale will see the city council and local people getting absolutely nothing from it.

£1.5m is a hell of a lot of money to lose for a council about to make massive cuts.

Facts eh...i love em

Places like screwfix have nothing to do with the britannia, where as in community terms vale park has alot more community facilaties than the Brit.

Burslem would of had a decent market had the council not stopped it, over 100k per year profit to the club..kind equals itself out over the lost revenue and other trades that would of fed of it...

Plus The council rather than having an eyesore of more waste land will now generate cash from port vale for the long term probably getting more back from rates and knock on effects from other business staying alive than the initial cost to them.

The council did the right thing. But if you were a parent with a disabled child whose restbite care had been cut you'd be pretty annoyed. The two aren't always intrinsically linked but people don't always see it like that

there is no link, each committee has it's own budget and funding cannot be transfered between committees, it's illegal under the local government acts.

That market was illegal and took money away from Burslem itself.

The local businesses were ecstatic when it was closed down as i took trade away from them.

Cant have it both ways

Why are you getting so invovled in this discussion? You should be happy at your flat pack stadium, watching overpaid fairies rolling about, surrounded by plastic fans watching hoofball. So, why are you here?
