Offer him £851 a week or £44,252 a year !

Give him a rise on his 20th birthday next month

I wonder if we might try to sign Tyreece Simpson given that Brady signed him on loan whilst he was Northampton manager.

I was thinking that too.

I wonder what’s happened to Simpson? He was such a handful in that season for Swindon and his careers just fell off a cliff since

Last time I saw him he was dreadful. Sad really as he looked like being a better Uche.

Byers is a holding midfielder so i dont expect him to be a goal scorer. Walters doesn't know what he is yet and Shipley will have moved on by then (I hope).
Im hopeful that with a good preseason Ben will come back strong (assuming he signs).
I would like to think that next season we have strikers who can score to take the pressure off everyone else contributing.

Byers certainly hasn't always been a holding midfield player. Barry Bannon played as a holding midfielder quite a lot in Wednesday's promotion season. Byers had a decent goals record at Wednesday.

If he's dreadful and still not a better Uche, then I can't imagine how bad he is then.

Interesting that strikers who failed to score with us equally failed to score when they moved onto other teams. I genuinely believe that our problem has been recruiting non goalscoring strikers. Tolaj was scoring for us so it was possible in this current squad.

Tolaj was scoring for us the season before in a different team and at a lower level but he only scored one in 4 last season before moving on so I dispute your claim that he scored goals. He didn't because he left and I very much doubt he would have scored as many as he did last season if he had stayed with us. I think he would have been feeding off scraps like the rest of our strikers were.

Waine scored roughly one in four so the same as tolaj and cole scored  one in three which is better than either.

We had no creative players either in the midfield or out wide and that has to change because if you change the strikers but keep the dead midfield the result will be the same, not enough goals. Strikers who can score goals form nothing are few and far between, cost more than we can afford and wouldn't be playing in league two anyway.

You are right we have tried loads of different strikers, how many good ones have we tried, Tolaj excluded. We have played games this season where some of the teams have been no better than us, all over the pitch , with the exception that when chances have fallen to them they score. I can remember numerous games where we started brightly, had several good chances and didn't score, only for the opposition to score with their first chance. That's down to having clinical strikers not lack of opportunity.

As you say some games we started well, created a couple of chances maybe one of which was clear cut which we missed then we got pushed back by a team with better midfield players who created chance after chance after chance and stuck a couple away while we never got another sniff because we had lost the midfield. That became a pattern which put pressure on the strikers who knew we would only have a small window where they would get an opportunity and then we would sit deeper and deeper and then they would get subbed off for faal over and brown.

He still just about qualifies as young but this is a big year transfer window for him. Simpson, Tovide, Faal and Sherif are all powerful guys who could certainly carry bags of cement - but ask them to trap one! I think Sodje was 26 when we signed him, so there is hope for all 4. Its really can you pick the one who can kick on.

Completely agree. This is my main concern for next season as players like Byers, Walters, Shipley and recently Garrity dont score any goals.

I have no doubt that we will be targetting a midfielder who has a good goal scoring record,i think Brady will know that we need to improve the goal output all over the pitch

I know we will probably differ on our take on this but when we got relegated previously from League1 we had Garrity and Chizzy who were midfielders who each scored 10/12 goals. Upfront we had Loft and Uche who between them couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. Chances were there to be taken in a poor team, the midfielders took them. In the same team our strikers didn't take theirs. In this current side we didn't score goals from either midfield or upfront, I saw us have plenty of chances. Thankfully I sit in Lorne St and not Row Z in the Hamil.
