You've upset me now.

Apologies if you sit in Row Z in the Hamil.

Max Thompson released by Newcastle.

21yo 6'4 goalkeeper that Brady had on loan at Northampton.

I think you’ve just identified our new number 1

I wonder if we might try to sign Tyreece Simpson given that Brady signed him on loan whilst he was Northampton manager.

I hope not. We’ve had enough useless donkeys up front in recent years we don’t need another. Was a nuisance back in the day but is a bit of a carthorse now and is another striker who dosent score goals

Probably back up keeper looking at the amount of games played - a good option to challenge a more experienced Number 1

I know we will probably differ on our take on this but when we got relegated previously from League1 we had Garrity and Chizzy who were midfielders who each scored 10/12 goals. Upfront we had Loft and Uche who between them couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. Chances were there to be taken in a poor team, the midfielders took them. In the same team our strikers didn't take theirs. In this current side we didn't score goals from either midfield or upfront, I saw us have plenty of chances. Thankfully I sit in Lorne St and not Row Z in the Hamil.

I agree we need decent strikers that's a given but our midfield was useless last season in terms of ball retention, goals, and assists the only metric they could claim to have done ok is defensively. They were all extremely limited with the ball at their feet all they could manage was 2-3 yard passes to each other or back to hall who then launched it. Meanwhile our strikers were static because they got fed up with making runs for team mates who either smacked it miles over their heads or checked back and passed it sideways. We had numerous wing backs but I can't name one who consistently delivered decent balls into the box so with the midfield passing backwards and the wing backs failing to deliver from wide areas we created very few chances compared to the teams who sat at the other end of the table which I am assuming is where we aim to be.

We need a couple of decent strikers but decent at our level means they will maybe score 1 from 3 chances. The biggest issue for me for at least the past three seasons has been the midfield.  Our promotion season was probably the most bored I have ever been in a promotion season, we made hard work of it in what was a very poor division. We then got found out, again, when we tried to step up. I remember coming on here during our previous relegation from league one saying that we urgently needed to sign a midfield playmaker but we have played another two seasons since then and still haven't signed one. I firmly believe that there is no point putting decent strikers up top if we keep signing limited plodding midfielders who can't pass forwards and wide players or wing backs who can't cross the ball.

Sign up Billy Sharp on a One year deal

It's a no brainer, he'll bang goals in for fun

Byers certainly hasn't always been a holding midfield player. Barry Bannon played as a holding midfielder quite a lot in Wednesday's promotion season. Byers had a decent goals record at Wednesday.

I don't think we have ever seen the best of byers because DM saw midfielders as defenders first and that's how he set them up. That and the fact that he is always either injured or just coming back from an injury. I am sure he is capable of more than he has shown but at the very least he is a better footballer than the rest of them however he is used.

You are correct signing him would be evidence of there being no brain.

I think it was potentially revealing when JB indicated that he has a style of play in mind but it will depend on how recruitment goes. I wondered if he is either concerned about our ability to attract the players he would ideally want or he fears that the budget is potentially light.

Of course I could be miles out its just my interpretation.

Plus I'm a bit bored in this dead period where its too early for signings and the world cup hasn't started yet  😁

This time, more than any other time this time 😁

Perhaps look at doing some scouting for the club if you've got so much free time on your hands  👀 I'll leave it with you 🤔😆 , Cheers

Byers is a holding midfielder so i dont expect him to be a goal scorer. Walters doesn't know what he is yet and Shipley will have moved on by then (I hope).
Im hopeful that with a good preseason Ben will come back strong (assuming he signs).
I would like to think that next season we have strikers who can score to take the pressure off everyone else contributing.

I like your optimism old chap

Jon Brady: We want to sign young, hungry players, ones who are on their way up in their career, rather than on their way down.

It's a bit of a brainer I think. 18 goals in his last 129 EFL appearances isn't particularly impressive.  Some as a substitute but 1 in 7 isn't that good. 10 years ago yes.

Dont confuse him with facts.
