Not much movement at Stoke which is great news because it means they will still be shiit next season

Shipley to anchor the mid and Moore as an attacking analyst, and then that’s all the pieces sorted.

For the last World Cup the FIFA Club Befits Programme ‘compensated’ clubs who ‘loaned’ players to the tournament ~$11,000 per day they were participating. Does the same apply for this tournament too? If so we could be getting another unexpected windfall for Ben of at least $260,000, more if NZ go past the group stage, even if he doesn’t kick a ball.

Any add ons we could be looking at - winners, golden boot etc.?

I'll tell you what they will struggle to sell some of the players still in contract.

Personally, Iv not recently made any progression on a cure for cancer, and im not sure i know 200 words, never mind 20000, but thats not to say iv been wasting my time, no sir, not me.

Just in the last seven days iv read a book with blood mages in it (twelve Kings in Sharakhai) played and finished echoes of the end on pc, taken Mutt Hoppers on multiple walks, and painted the shed - no flies on Hoppers, as they say.

Iv been thinking, in a bid to end the ex player conundrum once and for all,  maybe we should put up a poll of all these ex vale players still kicking the leather, with the winners name being put forward to JB for advanced transfer negotiations - we could make it an annual preseason affair and have another poll for official ovf representation on the negotiations committee for said lucky player 👍 😉

Just hoping you found time sink  a few pints of Guinness in your spare time , squire 😁

Cranson on the radio said they should try and shift as many as they can that have got 12mths left on their deals but also said it will be difficult because of the money that they are on 🙂

It's uncanny.

You have paraphrased what I'm saying with absolute precision.

"It's worth the non-cost of a call to see if Josh Maja might be interested at all." now becomes "Here's my entry for the 2026 Booker Prize for fiction.".

Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth, why don't you share with us your own constructive suggestions for players you think we actually could sign who would make our club better?

Anything better to offer?

Anything at all?

Here’s something to consider, and which is how i KNOW that you are absolutely clueless.

When football clubs sign players, it’s not just a case of ‘making a call’.

There is hours and hours and hours and hours of scouting, research, asking opinions from other contacts within football, discussions about potential finances etc. before a phone call is even made to the player or his agent. And this includes multiple different people from within the club. Are you seriously suggesting that we do that for Josh Maja?

So no, it isn’t a ‘non cost of a call’. These things take months. We aren’t playing fifa or football manager here where we look at a few stats and sign a player within a few minutes.

Get your head out of your arse, admit you were being slightly too optimistic, and move on.

Of course!

I was highlighting Abdul Abdulmalik and Zak Brunt in January, but given their form since then, I doubt we have a chance now.

Players I'd be interested in would be:

Cian Hayes (transfer listed) - left footed right winger that has always looked bright. Only 22. Maybe L1 is a step too far right now, but I'm sure he'd be decent in L2 and can develop.

Olly Sanderson - 16 goals and 3 assists for Woking in the National League on loan from Fulham. Only 22. Out of contract. Had a number of loans and probably just needs a permanent home now. Real hardworking striker.

Mark Helm - been rumoured already but a quality midfielder. Would cost a fee.

Harrison Neal - Defensive midfielder, 25, goes under the radar but does a lot of defensive work, out of contract this summer.

Joshua Popoola - right footed left winger. 22 years old. 10 goals, 13 assists in NLS. Reminds me a lot of Kyrell Lisbie at Peterborough.

Frankie Maguire - 22 year old centre midfield. 7 goals and 9 assists in the National League. Out of contract. Diminutive but aggressive and dynamic.

Keep the older pros like Hall/Croasdale/Stockley etc but have a younger core, with potential to develop.

Move away from the 29 old year journeymen looking for a payday, and more towards younger players with a point to prove.

Excellent considered post with realistic names.

Glad you didn't add Ballard to your list or Cozier-Duberry !!!
