2026 Winter Transfer Window

Featured Replies

Anyone suggested Connor Wickham on a free yet? I can deal with the bad results, but I cannot deal with not being linked to him for the 37th straight transfer window.

I dont mind usually but the lad has been soooo injury prone than  anything,Northampton fans say his speed is his best asset but he is even losing that due to injury, they said he was more unavailable than available

If this happens then as some have wanted we really are getting ready for League Two... it seems even the owners dont want to battle for it(just like the players) despite it being THEIR massive balls up

Gosh  talk about the titanic sinking!!!🤨

“Hi Devante, just wondering: do you want to go to a team pushing for promotion, creating chance and for more money, or do you fancy sticking with us as we drop into L2, all the while creating little to no chances for you?”.

When Devante joined Vale in September, Vale were 2nd bottom having not yet won a league game, Luton were just outside the play-offs.

The only thing that has changed since then is that Vale have slipped one place.

Why weren't Luton in for him then?, why did he join us?

Just asking.

Depends on his contract, if a relegation release clause? if we have like Tolaj a set price we have to accept?

If he can go for a low fee in the summer or released on relegation, cash in now. It is an utter mess of a season though in every aspect and does feel very much a tortuous three months still to come.

Correct, we’ve no idea on his contract and it may be that we’ve got little option, but all things being equal I’d keep Cole just to see out the season with a player who can score goals consistently at this level, and would do in a better team.

I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right player, but if I am he's ridiculously quick for a big CB.

Not sure it's been said since you posted this Mellor but i am only just reading through,it was said at one time that he was quicker than Mbappe so it could be the same one

Maybe it would have been for the best if Darnbrough stayed in Poland if this and archer is all he can come up with.

A 27 year old who's current team are rock bottom of the 7th tier. Give me strength.

What's wrong with Archer?

He was an average spark in an otherwise horrible performance, nothing more. He's a player deemed not good enough by a team in our division and a player who has two goals and three assists in half a season in the league below. For context Curtis had nearly the same at this level for us this year on way less minutes and people were pulling themselves daft buzzing when we sold him.

He's ok, nothing more nothing less, certainly not enough to resurrect either our survival hopes or fan morale.

Surely we must be running out of sticks to beat the Vale with.

If we’re being honest he clearly isn’t at league 1 level. He tried and stood out a bit because of effort but he fell over the ball a few times, poor end product and the most one footed player since Kyle Edwards. Could be one for us next season in league 2, but he’s not good enough for this level

Maybe I’m being over critical but we had a better winger on loan in league 2 last season in Benicio

If he’s got any whiff that Luton want him, he will be off.
I have said many times on here that it’s the player that’s got all the power these days, not the club

Cole might not fancy Luton, who knows?

The balance of power is in the players favour for sure, however, his contract will be key, with release clause, relegation clause, wages etc. all a factor. On the face of it he’s here for another 18 months, or whatever, so we could dig our heels in. The reality is that we haven’t stood in the way of any player that’s wanted to leave, as far as we know.

IF Cole does get sold then for me whether we are planning for League Two or not I would like us to invest some money in someone like Michael Mellon from Burnley on a permanent deal

The signing of Devante Cole could be used as a business school management exercise.

Recruitment guy needs to find a striker

Panics and Signs player on comfortably the biggest contract in the club.

Manager plays a system that does not play to this player’s strengths

Causes resentment among other staff, paying customers and the player himself, when it doesn’t work out

Manager gets sack, and is replaced by new guy, who is left to deal with the situation as best he can.

With only 12 months left on his deal, his value will decrease significantly.  Prices are high in January.  If its a good deal I'd take it.  We'd then have to look at a different pairing up front, which may not be a bad thing.

Hard to say how much his value will change one way or the other.  Clubs tend to pay over the odds in January, but then if he doubled his goal tally with us between now and the end of the season, not impossible,  there’d be more clubs interested in the summer.  Strikers always have a value.

There’s every likelihood he’ll have a release clause and it could just be a case of someone matching that valuation, whatever that may be.

It’s all well and good saying we’d have to look at another pairing.  We haven’t got one so we’d be in the same boat as other teams in this window, having to fork out over the odds for a replacement.  A replacement who wants to join a relegation battle.
