Cheap Stockley back-up...? Wrexham paid half a million for him. How much did Stickley cost. Again give him some time

Fal isn't good enough for league 1 level

How many games do you have to watch him missing chance after chance until the penny finally drops

Can anyone tell me why Scarlett is of interest to us. Looking at his record, not a signing that I would rush to get and no different or better than we already have.

The guy has a poor goal scoring record

That's why we are interested he'll fit right in with the others with the exception of Stockley

We conner score full stop 😲

Ultimately to get goals out of any signing including an “experienced”, “proven” forward, that will depend on how we set out to play.

It’s on Moore to recruit and coach and set the game plan. If we continue to have a poor attacking game plan it matters little who we bring in.

Man, you’re one of the biggest jokers going with bad faith posts like this.

You’ve probably never seen him play yet you have an opinion how good he is.

So in terms of senior (over 21 players), we have 1 spot left by my count:

PVFC First Team

GK (Do not need to be registered):

Gauchi, Marosi, Amos, Davies

Max 22 Outfield Players over 21:

  1. Gabriel,
  2. Mitch
  3. Headley,
  4. Gordon
  5. John
  6. Debrah
  7. Humphreys
  8. Heneghan
  9. Hall
  10. Hart
  11. Shipley,
  12. Byers,
  13. Croasdale,
  14. Garrity,
  15. Ojo
  16. Curtis,
  17. Stockley,
  18. Waine
  19. Faal,
  20. Paton
  21. Plant

U21 (born on or after 1 Jan 2005) are not needed to be registered:

  1. Walters
  2. Rico
  3. Shorrock
  4. Lomax

So for me that leaves the LCB if we get one and a striker — I see Dane Scarlett rumoured who would count as a senior player which doesn’t seem to be going down well.

I’d like to get Hart gone and bring in a third player as well. Might need to send Faal back in that case though, but assume Plant doesn’t get registered to play.

Just asking a question, if Plant has gone to Yeovil on loan for the season is he not registered as one of Yeovil’s loanees.

He wouldn’t be registered with us, no. But the loan rules mean that we could recall him and then register him, so the spot is ‘reserved’ for him in this case 🙂

“Looking at his record”, I really hate this lazy analysis — he’s bloody 21. Not aimed at you Baldy, but I see this argument a lot when we are targeting development players and it’s just very frustrating to read.

He’s an England U21 international and played in European competition. I’d guarantee he is streets ahead of Mo Faal in technical ability.

If that isn’t a good enough indicator to offset the stats “issue”, I don’t know what would.

Imagine if we just looked at records, teams wouldn’t be signing players like Liam Delap before his Ipswich transfer…

Young players just won’t have the stats on the board, and typically, experience costs much more money. Club have mentioned many, many times they want to be a development club so we will tend to use younger players.

Perhaps I'm a little coloured by the fact my nephew who supports Oxford said he was very disappointed in his Oxford showing. All for development of younger players but not at the expense of our own. He would bring our loan forwards to three and we have two in Paton and Richards (attacking midfielder)who we have and twiddling their thumbs and for the talk that goes on, no of us know if they would be good enough in this league as we haven't seen them play enough. We have to do something to get the ball in the net and established players are at a premium and costly. Interesting days ahead.

Tolaj would not have been cup-tied since the game was played in a transfer window.

Where have you seen this rule Fosse? Thought the rule was a player can’t play for two different teams in the same cup competition in the same season ie transfer windows are irrelevant.

I’m all for that mate and that’s a fair opinion to have. I do take issue with people not looking beyond Wikipedia though. There’s plenty of those takes about on social with this link. I think it’s an unfair assessment to have if all you’re going to do is judge a player on stats before you’ve seen them.

As for a poor stats return, currently it looks like Tolaj will bear this out if Plymouth keep playing him as a lone striker. You could argue the likes of a Liam Delap suffered from being in sides that didn’t suit him either.  If you want to get the best out of your strikers you need to play to their strengths.

We were discussing the League Cup. Rule 6.4.1  Summer window, 6.4.2 Winter window, 6.4.3 Emergency goalkeepers. Covers playing for 2 teams in the same season.

How do we have a poor attacking game plan? We are creating loads of chances but we aren't putting them away, we had at least two chances that were better/easier than the chance reading put away we had more shots at goal than reading but less on target, against cardiff we had 16 shots to their 9  but only one on target against doncaster we had 13 shots to their 6 we are creating plenty of chances but we aren't putting them away I think the problem is obvious.

A player can only appear for one club in all cup competitions

We rely on wingbacks supplying crosses and cycling the ball down the wings. This situation improves with Stockley on the end of them. He can actually head the ball.

Other than that it’s pressing and turnovers and pure chaos, when it’s not set pieces. We’ve lost Tolaj who was a pressing merchant and decent technically.

I’d say the attacking game plan is poor because it’s predictable and not yet yielding results. I don’t think the way Moore wants us to play will get much out of Faal, Curtis is a winger playing out of position. Stockley, Paton injured. Daj Brown looked like he could carry the ball but we’re only saw one good chance.

We’re having lots of shots, few on target. Unlucky with some hitting bar, good efforts sure. We haven’t made the most of counter attacks or set pieces that should be key to us getting goals against teams looking to dominate us.

How many times last season were we begging for us to take the game to the opposition and attack? It worked. Other than Cardiff and Stevenage I don’t think we’ve been able to have the same level of performance. Not helped by injuries and big changes.

I think you are over complicating things we are creating chances it doesn't matter how they are created and we are having shots at goal but they aren't going in so the problem is the lack of technical ability, composure etc in front of goal.
