Not released anyone. That’s a gamble going up a league.

They’ve got a lot of players under contract, they can easily ship out any of those over the summer. They won’t come out and say which one right now.

Apologies if it has already been said earlier in the thread but does anyone know when we announce our retained list ?

It looks like it will be at the start of next week

Must admit L2 release and transfer listed players have no interested in them.

We need better.

Players who had a career day once against we should have no interest in.

Only caveat I'd add to that MBE is if a player has been the Players Player of the Season or the Fans Player of the Season and would be available for next to nothing and fill/cover a position Vale need to fill.

This isn’t a dig at you by the way, but how do people judge a player based on seeing them just once possibly twice against us? I can hardly remember other players names let alone say we should be signing so and so. I just sit there hating everyone we play against.

Some of us don’t. I watch the opposition for good players. Remember seeing Jack Grealish play for Notts. County against us and thinking why we hadn’t got him on loan from Aston Villa !!

Definitely 12 mate. Unusual.

They've amended the fixture release time in the last few weeks then, as it was definitely reported as 9:00 originally, even on the EFL website.

(some clubs still show it as 9:00am - link )

Sorry to hear that. In contrast as a SW based Vale fan, the away trips are good - Plymouth, Exeter and Cardiff are all easy to get to. Another pre-season trip to Bath City and a first round  draw against Yeovil in the FA Cup and it will be a great season for Somerset Vale fans...

As a Devon based fan just outside of Exeter I can finally get too a couple of games this coming season

We made the mistake of being too loyal before. Unfortunately, going up a league means some quite significant changes, or you come back down in short shrift. I hope we are fairly ruthless this time....even if it might upset some.

Agreed. This time we have a good number who can be released who had been on longer deals. The likes of Sang and Chislett. Sang is an easy release as he was poor in league 1. Chislett I have fond memories of in the higher league so it’s harder as he was quite poor this season.

The big big question is Nathan Smith. He has never been that good in league 1 and has had plenty of chances in that league. Can we do better? Yes, but I can’t think it would be cheap and I as a fan can’t escape sentimental thinking. However it comes down to this…would another league 1 club have him as a starter? Aside from maybe a relegation haunted one, I can’t say they would…

I remember that game. We were 2-0 up away I think,, when they brought Grealish on we couldn’t get the ball off him and I think we ended up, losing 2-3? Please correct my memory someone.

Close, we lost 4-2 from 2-0 up, if I recall Duffy was lucky not to see red for a tackle on Grealish. Good as he was it was our usual nemesis Campbell-Ryce who tore us a new one though!

One of only two times we wore that third kit with all the supporters names on it.
