Summer transfer rumours and speculation

You can have whatever opinion you want, but it’s factually incorrect to say that spending a fee on a player without resale value isn’t part of our model.

It very much is something we do, we did it for Stockley and Hall last season.

This Season there have been no outfielders over 27 signed up to now, only one attacker above 24 on the books, that is the current  trend. Of course older players will be brought in to cover gaps.

They clearly don't like us much...

Although Stockport finished 3rd last season I certainly don't see them winning the league like the majority of them have predicted. In fact personally I don't think Stockport will finish in the top 6 this season especially when you look at the players who have left i.e. Collar, Horsfall, Touray and Olaofe who were all regulars for them in L1 last season.

It worries me that people actually think we can afford to sign a striker like Cole when we can’t afford to sign a decent goalkeeper which is arguably the most important position in a team. The fact that we are having to look at out of contract trialist goalkeepers a few days before the season starts speaks volumes. We haven’t got the money.

Do we need another goalkeeper or just cover for the Amos injury?

Could be a false economy having given Marosi 2 years.

As always Vale very coy on the Amos injury. Maybe if Amos is back October (ish) they feel it's money we don't need to spend ?

Pure guess by me.

Cover for 3 months is pushing it. I posted before the injury and Maroni signing, I thought we should have gone all out for a first 11 keeper and had Amos as back up. I’m a bit concerned in that area now

Why would we spend money on a second choice keeper who may well be redundant in a few months when Amos is fit again? Striker is where the big bucks get spent so I'd rather we did that than pay money for an expensive keeper when we have 2 experienced ones at the club already and a highly rated youngster.

The thing about the keeper situation is that it looks like we’d prefer to sign a player with a bit more experience than our highly rated young keeper.  Which makes you think Amos could be out for some time.

Ellis Harrison rejoined Bristol Rovers and back working with DC. L2 is about his level now but if anyone can get the best out of him it’s DC.

He scored 33 goals in 90 appearances when he was last in League One.

You can see why someone like West Brom took a gamble on him on a free transfer

Possibly, but it hasn’t worked out for him in the Championship with West Brom.

Stevenage sign the keeper from Villa that we were linked with on a permanent deal

Strikers don't come cheaply I'm afraid 🤔

They don’t, Cambridge paid money for Loft!

I suspect the Trialist family will be thrilled to see their son Andy (A Trialist) named in goal at some point during tonight's fixture.

But we already knew he wasn't a striker....and obviously Cambridge thought he was 🤣🤣🤣
