Tranmere v Port Vale match thread - 1st March

There's talk on here about Tranmere having a new manager bounce but who is that actually? Crosby is still there but even if he takes over temporarly while they look for someone else, he has been a key part of the ancien regime and so why would anything improve significantly for them under him?

We need to keep focused on what works for us and play our best game to get the result we need.

Doesn't have to be a new appointed manager.  Can be the person put in charge while they sort out the new manager.  The players will now be up for the person possibly watching the game to show they are good enough to be kept in the first team.

Vale players need to go out there and put Tranmere under the sword from the first minute to the last minute.  Don't give them a second to rest.  Oh and please players don't get yourself sent off.

Unless Crosby has a completely different approach to his former boss as regards the team I think it will be mostly more of the same for the player selection but whatever.

We do agree on what Vale should be doing...

Attack Attack Attack

This could go one of two ways. Will happily applaud Croz before and after the game. Couldn’t write it though could you.

yep, regardless of opinions of ACs "style" theres no doubt he always did his best for the vale - will deffo always get a warm round of claps off me

He would certainly get the clap off me 🙂

Spicy. Lets knock a few past them lads! UTV.

Wonder if he'll bring that useless old duffer Schofield in?

I have absolutely nothing against AC! The entire debacle was a club decision at the time, deciding to play tiki taka football, but not assembling a squad for it in any way, shape or form.
Of course he had his faults, as do all managers, like his stubbornness, and I lost faith in him, when he wanted to turn Smudge into a playing defender, which every blind man and their dog can see he'll never be!
But hey, the past is the past! I'll clap him if there's an atmosphere for it, and then hopefully take the 3 points away with us afterwards! 🙂

Agree with all this. He was just put in a job that he wasn’t suited to do. Gave it his all but in hindsight it wasn’t ever going to work. Clearly a successful coach just not meant to be the guy at the top and that’s ok, not all people are.

Big job keeping Tranmere up I hope he does it mind you I don't mind Morecambe and Carlisle either .

We play all them .

Vale should be well up for it especially with what will be 1800 plus Vale there urging Vale on to victory

UTV

This match got even more nerve wracking.  Ex manager wanting to get one over Vale.  Tranmere wanting the points to stay up.  Players wanting to prove they are good enough to be in the new/temp managers thoughts.

Vale wanting the 3 points to keep up their promotion push.

As you say - you just couldn't write this.

I don't believe that Crosby will be "wanting to get one over Vale", I'm sure he will be wanting to win for Tranmere's sake whilst still hoping the best for the Vale.

He had his time, he had good times and bad but now his focus will be solely on the club that is paying his wages.

I never wished him anything other than success and still will - after 5pm on Saturday.

I do agree fully with your other points, it's Vale all over this is, but at least we only have to concentrate on doing our job, they are desperate for points as are we, that means an open game which hopefully suits us more that them.

If we can get an early goal to hush their crowd and deflate their team, with the backing Vale will have from the stands we should be ok (so says BHF with fingers and toes crossed).

Up to Vale to show the new coach/manager bounce doesn't always happen.
