You would think that any trialists we sign will be back up as I am still expecting an experienced CB to come in and at least one full back

Unless he’s going with Smith & Hall which personally I’d be ok with, then Jesse & another for back up? Or even he sees Jones in there with Lowe an emergency replacement 😂 Like you say I’m more concerned about the full back position myself, would you be happy with the Everton lad coming in? He can play both sides.

With Kyle John being nearly 24 he's either good enough or he isn't.  Everton included him in their 25 man squad last season. I was quite happy with Ben Lomax before he got injured, so he really has to show he offers more. If we play a flat back 4 then Sang could possibly do ok at rightback, the only the good full 90 minutes he produced was on the right of a back 3. It's probably closer to playing fullback than wingback. He isn't going to be used in central midfield because Ojo, Garrity and Byers are all better. I've never seen Croasdale play but I'd be disappointed if he isn't an upgrade on Sang. I suspect all 3 loan players will get some game time today and join the training camp in Wales. Everton let 3 young players go who were close to their first 11, MacKenzie Hunt has gone to Fleetwood, Josh Warrington Orient and Kyle John was the third. Be interesting to see what DM makes of him.

Yes,I think I said not long ago that ideally we need a full back who can play both sides like gibbo did and clark can,the obvious concern with the Everton lad is he has played no men's football at all but they all have to start somewhere

I wonder if there was anything in our supposed interest in the Welsh right back from caernarfon

Yeah I like Lomax & think he would be fine in league 2 myself as back up to Clark. And it’s a great platform for him to kick on

I'd guess there was based purely on the source who's followed us as long as I have >60 years. He'd never just make things up.

I love it when we take a punt on a player like that tbh

We may well have looked at him; as we seem to be with Kyle John. I'd be surprised if Caernarfon sell him until they lose to Legia Warsaw in Europe, which will be a money spinner.  I'd imagine we are also looking at other options.

They'll get knocked out next round.  Caernarfon vs Crusaders is National League North at best. They lost away 3 - 1 and went through on penalties.  Legia Warsaw will be 3 or 4 leagues above. It's a big jump from what he has been playing to league 2. If John impresses that may be the end of any interest, I guess time will tell. If not it will be interesting to see how he performs in the next round.

Talking of Welsh football, there may be an opportunity for some Peterborough like investment opportunities.

21 year old Brad Young got 22 in 25 last season, has bagged 79 and 19 assists in 145 games overall (1 goal every 1.83 games), and is from the West Mids like Darren Moore.

He signed a 1 year extension last month but given the level played at, that strikes me as TNS anticipating a transfer bid and contractually assuring they get a bit more money for him. I can't imagine the average release clauses at that level would be gargantuan.

Same story for 23 year old Josh Jones who got 28 and 8 assists in 35 games last season, overall 43 in 102 - he's a LW

22 year old Lewis Reed got 28 in 37 last season, overall 48 in 87

I would hope with our reformed transfer policy of developing to sell on for big money, I would hope we've got someone watching at least to see if the likes of these example 3 have the non-coachables required to step up to the EFL.

To be honest I watch Aberystwyth town and believe me apart from TNS who are full of ex professionals like Rory Holden the football is dire you might get the odd gem like Tom Bradshaw at Millwall, but it's kidsgove League standard at best 🤔

Agreed… I watch Aber as well. Football isn’t great think I could still do a job for them.
