I'm not sure its negativity (I've never seen the fanbase this positive in my lifetime, ever), but realism in that we've just signed a young, highly-rated striker for good money, have signed an experienced striker who will expect goals in League 2, and just tied down a England youth international with Premier League interest.

If we sign Paton then that's brilliant, but I'd question how on earth we keep everyone happy - and that's without considering Curtis, Garrity, and Chislett. 

From Paton's perspective, unless he's been guaranteed minutes (at the expense of Stockley/Tolaj/Dipepa) then I can't see why he'd pick us, unless our financial package is truly mad.

Joe it’s a long season we will need all 4 strikers

Someone will get injured they always do and we need strength in depth

Loss of form, injures it all goes on and a good team needs 4 strikers

Dipepa will be played in the efl cups and as an impact player he’s nowhere near ready to start

I’d be suprised if he’s been seen at Vale park today. Was that glowstick Gareth by any chance? His manager Davidson confirmed he was on the bus with the rest of the squad this afternoon on the way to todays game when they got the call & he had to rewrite his starting line up 😆 Unless he’s made a mad dash straight from Scotland to burslem it’s highly unlikely. Reckon he will be announced Monday myself ✍️

Agree on Dipepa. Massive talent, probably ahead of schedule development wise but you would like to have 3 more experienced strikers to call upon ahead of him.

You would think the pecking order would be

Stockley, Tolaj, Paton, Dipepa. Big potential but both Tolaj and Paton would need to prove they can do it in a better league than they’ve played previously.
