Longest run without a win ?

Recommended Posts

Posted on another thread that we are now on our 2nd run this season of 11 league games without a win.

I can remember 18 once under Rudgie.

Wonder what the club record is ?

Peterborough away would be 19 if we fail to win before then.

Gallows humour I know but if we can't beat the team in 23rd when we're 2-0 up in the 88th minute, who are we going to beat ?

We will easily beat the 18 by the end of the season 😂😂😂

Two more fun ones are imminent.

Fail to beat Shrewsbury/Orient = 3 wins in 6 whole months.

Fail to beat Orient = Won't have won a Tuesday night league game for 2 whole years.

I'm going to throw this out here now and I can not believe that I'm about to say this but I think we will beat Shrewsbury.

I actually share that view. As bad as the 2-2 throw away against Fleetwood was, when we got to 2-0, I did think we were superior. It was only the 2nd half when we let their attack have a go that I thought we were dreadful. Fleetwood beat Wigan 4-2 yesterday.

We need to play in the same way. Take the initiative and we are a better football team if set up properly. I think we need to show faith in the players that did play well when we got the wins, not the ones dire in defeat.

So that means playing the likes of Smith and Massey because despite them looking truly terrible recently, they did, if I remember, in the distant past, they contributed to some better stuff. All being relative of course!

Is this what “saving” the club looks like?

Brian, I know we have disagreed in the past but I respect you for talking sense.

On this occasion this is the most lunatic post you've ever made 😉

Maybe it was always written in the stars that the team who lost their first game of the season 7-0 should be relegated.

Remember texting a mate that night in numb disbelief.

That result won't define your season he replied.

Definitely in the book of Dave Flitcroft. My pre season predictions was 22nd and 42 points. I struggle to see where we get 10 points at this rate. A team with an impotent strike force, invisible midfield and non existent full backs has done really well to scrape together 32 points.
