This is where hard choices need to be made by Carol and Co.  Do we go with a training hub and facilities that are Championship ready, however, we are in the 2nd Div or even lower.

Do we scale down slightly to get a couple of players capable of keeping us in this league or just say - here comes Div 2.  Oh to be an owner.

We need players - but we need facilities, so that is the hard choice they need to make - which is top of the list.

Engage your brain , the product on the pitch keeps the punters coming through the turnstiles but at the moment the product is shyte , Bo##ock# to the training facilities

We are more interested in better footballers coming into the club, be a good chap and pass it on to the hierarchy

I would train on a park football pitch as long as I got a good wage at the end of the month

 we won't attract many better

footballers if we go down though

I'm sure they won't be arsed about

the championship ready facilities either

You can pass that onto whoever you want  too

There's a good chap 😆👍

I’ll have a guess here but that’s because you aren’t a professional footballer, and likely never played footballer at all.

Meanwhile, back here on planet earth, training facilities matter whatever the sport.  That’s why you don’t see many professional golfers training down their local crazy golf course.  Even pub teams will get on the astroturf, 3G or go indoors in winter to be able to train.  Think about that for a second then feel free to go back to your ramblings.

Well, more than anything they want a higher wage than the competing clubs , and if you're putting money into various long-term projects without external investment, then that money has to come from somewhere - probably the wage budget.

It's a chicken and egg scenario. Do you build the infrastructure first to develop players, which you can then profit from and invest into a higher wage budget, or do you ignore the infrastructure and go all in on the wage budget to attract better players who win games of football, increasing attendances, and then use that extra revenue to fuel infrastructure investment?

We've gone with option 1, and it's not going very well.

But you can sign players on cheaper wages, and develop them into better players with better training facilities?

We need players who can play now rather than at some unspecified point in the future if we don't sell them first. A number of development players in the squad is fine if you have a core of senior professional players to support them.

My personal view is that the money should have been focused upon the first-team budget in the short-term until we were established in League 1. The old 'League 1 steady' mantra.

After that, a very gradual and slow transition towards infrastructure investment, whilst never jeopardising the first-teams ability to have a mid-tableish budget, perhaps would have been better. Larger crowds through being a good League 1 side would have probably helped facilitate this.

We went far too hard, far too quickly in reorienting the structure of PVFC. We were acting like a top League 1 club without the squad. That's now why we've talked about campuses and t-zones in the same month we've slipped into the bottom 4. The fault of this is Flitcroft's. It was a revolution, not evolution.

Nothing to do with the fact that Flitcroft is involved in the construction industry of course...
