1993/94 season (promotion season)

Vale's first game of the season was against Burnley.

Vale's first home league game of the season was against Barnet.

 

1982/83 season (promotion season)

Vale's last home game was against Northampton Town.

There have been a few stats like this over the last few years, but Vale seem to ignore them all. There was one 2 years ago where we played Bury first game of the season. The team playing Bury first for the 4 previous seasons had all been promoted, but we managed to finish 9th !!!!!! :rolleyes:

I thought that when Barnet came up yesterday we played them and Burnley in 93/94 the first 2 games, although the Burnley game was at Turf Moor I think?

We beat barnet 6-0 too. Foyle and Bernie hat tricks.

And we lost the Northampton game in 82-83. That's when we had that circus of 'entertainment' that John McGrath thought was a good idea, motorbikes on the pitch at HT, that sort of thing.
