Brian Horton just tweeted that Keith Ball has passed away.

Very sad news! I wrote to Keith in the good old days of pen and paper asking for any help as I was an up and coming goalkeeper but I was small like him. He took the trouble the reply and I was over the moon. Another Good Owd un gone......

One of my first away games was at the old 'Gay Meadow' Shrewsbury when we got beat 7-3, Keith was sent off, Clinton Boulton then went in goal, and Bobby Gough scored all 3 of our goals... RIP Keith Ball

Worked 51years (nearly), had a new knee put in December, retired January this year, now feel ready for knackers yard!

I remember the 4all draw against Aston Villa was it Roy Cross own goal which looped over his head from a Vale goal kick? 4 -2 down and clawed it back. RIP Keith condolences to the family.

Remember it well, where has the time gone ? Part of the promotion winning side I followed all over the country, always thought of Keith as a safe pair of hands RIP Keith Ball
