Vale got a home tie with the winner of Bournemouth v Liverpool in the 4th round. That’s a great draw and chance to test themselves.

What a tie that would be v Liverpool

Cant remember the date or year but i am sure i remember a game v Chelsea? i think it was and there were far more fans than expected and many were late getting in to see the game due to lack of turnstiles etc being open

Bournemouth v Liverpool      22 December for the right to meet the Mighty Vale

Possible difference between a 400 crowd or a 3500 crowd such is the pull of Liverpool.  Let's hope they beat Bournemouth .

It was Chelsea, think they had Lorne Street and Bycars open for it. If I remember rightly we beat Tottenham in the previous round. Looking at that Vale lineup none of them went on to much but until the current regime I'm not sure what chance anyone would have coming through our system in the past. Patrick Van Aanholt in the Chelsea team, at least he made up for it sending Stoke down a few years later 🙂

Kakuta the Chelsea wonder kid at the time got a hat trick before  mainly a Chelsea career on loan.
