I think with the five subs that needs to be a consideration. Maintaining discipline second half is going to be crucial now.

I love some of the patterns down the lefthand side with Benning and Connor Hall.  Conlon and Ojo doing a nice job in the middle of the park also.

It's games like this where we really miss Wilson's extra bit of quality. But so far, so good. We've competed well against a decent side, even when it was 11vs11. I think Massey might have a bit of a say in this game.

I’d get Forrester off given he’s on a yellow. Cass needs to get more involved and Proctor not done much. A point would be fine from this.

Regarding Stone, watching him against Rotherham, I felt that his distribution needs work. I don't just mean Rotherham's first goal. His kicks didn't end up at the feet of a Vale player often enough. Against some of these sides in League 1 we can't keep conceding possession so easily and so often during a game. Today against  Bolton is a perfect example but added to that 'the heat' ball retention is going to be so important. 

 

He's got loads to work on and improve, and in an ideal world he probably wouldn't be our number one yet. But I don't think he's done much wrong, certainly not enough to suddenly be dropped. But it is what it is and hopefully he responds to it well.

Bolton - Williams on dodgy grounds now.  Getting booked and then pushes over Conlon.  Vale players should target him and see what else he can do to make the ref book him.

Like what have seen from Massey. Like his directness. Once he’s match fit he’s going to be a real asset for us I think.
