Missing out on promotion isn’t a disaster because your circumstances haven’t changed. But relegation this way is something else. I can see challenges in court over it happening.

The EFL  are expecting promotions/relegations as usual, it is up to the individual leagues to sort out who. I see no difference in the loss of a place in say L1 by relegation or by not being promoted into a L1 place which has been earned.

But I think a team is more likely to challenge it because the outcome is far worse.

True, but it is part of the game. Although an untidy ending with a sudden halt and options needing compromise.

But what’s happening isn’t part of the game. Tell tranmere, 3 points from safety with a game in hand and an a winning streak, that ending the season early and relegating them is part of the game.

Compromise, a play-off between relegation places,  or a PO with  L2 PO winners?  Part of the game  is  unexpected results, a game in hand is not always won, and a hefty GD to overcome as well. Not much of a case really.

Of course there is. They won there last three and there’s games still to play. An extra point over 9 games is nothing. I’m confused how you think this is part of the game. The whole situation is unprecedented. I know there isn’t a ‘good’ option in all this, but I can at least understand why a club like tranmere would be unhappy with the current outcome.

This is spot on Andy. Also Tranny still had Wimbledon to play as well. Momentum means a lot at the end of the season once the jitters set in.

Teams with momentum both positive and negative were

Leeds, Wigan, Hull

Coventry, Oxford, Tranmere

Cheltenham, Vale, Northampton ,Macc, Stevenage.

All of the sides with positive momentum were stopped dead in their tracks.

Whereas Hull and Northampton have been given a lifeline .

Back to what you were on about if I was a Tranmere fan I'd be well and truly peeved

Its a bit like this scenario, when anything can happen until a full  season is completed.

credit to pvfcsanta for the clip

Interestingly, all five teams below us in that final table have been in the Premier League since then.  What did we do wrong?!!

That’s why I said most,Fosse.Even then,West Brom haven’t earned promotion .

There are 22 teams with less earnings, so as it stands they deserve it. Should the Championship play more games that may change.

I'll stick by what I've always said if a team as good as Manchester United can blow an 8 point lead with 4 games to go 2011/12 season then anything is possible in football.

20% of the season is left. Leeds and West Brom already imploded this season but then got back on track. What's to say that they wouldn't of again, so I'm with Howjy , they haven't earned anything. Just happened to be in the right position at the right moment.

Same with Crewe , 3 of their next 4 games were away at Mansfield Vale and Colchester, yet I've heard one of their cretins on Radio Stoke saying that they deserve to be Champions !!

4 points is nothing, Crewe may well of ended up in the play offs, we'll never know will we , they too have earned nothing, it's theirs by default
