Or - and I'm a hypocrite in this respect - people refusing to eat the flesh of animals but buying and consuming produce that is a direct result of the mistreatment and deaths of animals on an industrial scale.

Then don’t.

Why are people so squeamish?..... they dont sing animals to sleep at the slaughter house.

If I had to kill to eat meat I would go veggie or eat fish, as would a lot of people, lots of hypocrites I know.

I don’t see a difference....but....why get...so offended by....people choosing not to.

Id take your point one step, further. People say hey love animals whilst also taking part in an industry that tortures and harms them.

I dont mate, why others do is beyond me.... i like animals but it wouldnt stop me eating them.

You dont mind killing, gutting fish?

I think I would have to draw a line at larger animals...... they can run faster than me :woot:

I have no qualms about killing and eating what I catch and a few things I didn't exactly catch.

Mistreatment is a whole different ball game..... one which I don't agree with.

Never actually done it, but could consider it.

It's simple enough..... slit from gills to anal fin and remove the innards..... some you have to remove the scales, that's a bore...... it's actually easier to do a chicken, except for the feathers.

There is an article on the court case in the Evening Standard, eating a raw squirrel in a Soho street food market by ripping it open and eating the innards would make most people spew up. The same person has also eaten a raw pigs head in Brighton. Part of a protest movement.

They are probably counter-protesting DAE,the vegan group who invade places  like MacDonalds,Burger King and steak restuarants covered in animal faeces, lying naked and splashed with fake blood.

The lengths some people will go to to make their point?

You can’t pass one topic without making up some nonsense to fit your world view. Is it that fragile.

You can’t like them that much to be fair.

It’s easy to say you don’t agree with it while eating the product of it.

I've rescued cats and dogs, I rescued a tub full of turtles from the market and released them in the lake, I feed the strays locally, I've purchased dog food in the town to feed the strays we come across.... I like animals.... even the ones I don't like I don't bother unless they bother me.

I like to eat them too... if you don't that's fine... I'm not going to change what I do because you don't like it..... and vise versa.

Right. Hobby horse time.

The squirrel thing I have no real opinion on. But one thing that really gets on my nadgers is when people think it’s ok to raise and slaughter animals for food as long as they are “free range” or have been given a “happy life” before hand !

At the end of the day, someone is still going to slit its throat and millions of Brits are still going to eat it.

If people really care about animal welfare, then we should not even be breeding livestock for food at all, even if it has been given a so called “good life” . And if consumers (sorry wrong word) thought the same way they wouldn’t buy it.

Its just a scam by so called do gooders who basically don’t give a toss, but like to pretend that they do.

Incidentally I eat copious amounts of meat, but I don’t  try to pretend that I care enough about animal welfare to stop me doing so. If you want a creature to have a “good life” then stop eating it.

Even squirrels.
