Smurthwaite's excuses

So why should he just take out ALL the money that has come into the club for the last 2 years.

Shop sales, catering, player sales, tv, etc etc etc

His job is to assist the club, to invest where he thinks it will benefit the club,

work to get the club into a better position.

Oh no not Smurthwaite.

He,s making hay while the sun shines and taking all he can while he can.

There won’t be any more Hugill money coming in after the last payment.

He is ready to do a runner when the money dries up and blame the Manager and fans.

He can’t find a mug willing to pay his asking price so is taking what he can out of the club. He has no intention of investing in the club just what he can take out of it.

We have just been unlucky with all the above managers spending their budget on blokes from the Spanish 6th tier or the Norwegian 4th tier? At best, you are exceptionally naïve REP.

Don’t get me wrong there has been interference from other areas too that seems quite obvious but ultimately these inexperienced managers have gone with it and played these players and been happy with them, another reason for an experienced manager. Let’s not try to absolve this crap squad and other crap squads of blame or indeed the managers. Look how Page doubled his budget and ended up with no strikers and flaming Sam Johnson as a first choice keeper at the start of the season.

The reason for the Page’s, Askeys’s, Aspin’s, Brown’s or Bruno’s is because Smrthwaite believes you can run a football club on the cheap.

Yep crap managers do a crap job, never said any different and it’s my biggest gripe with the owner.

My biggest gripe with inexperienced managers is they always seem to go for the comfort of quantity over quality.

Young inexperienced managers or guys in their first role have no choice but to go along with the owners wishes, there aren't that many managers jobs and they will be compliant just to get their foot in the door.

Experienced managers are a different animal, they have contacts in the game and are more likely to go against the owner or at least have the experience to stand their ground.

Guess which category we fall in to ?

But then those inexperienced managers are setting themselves up for failure, so it’s their career they are stuffing before they even get started.

I remember some fans saying some of Micky’s signings were lazy, Christ for Micky and his lazy signings now 😂

Don’t get me wrong [...] but [...]

This is how your arguments defending Smurthwaite seem to start these days. Have a longer think.

Look how Page doubled his budget and ended up with no strikers and flaming Sam Johnson as a first choice keeper at the start of the season.

Johnson wasn't first choice under Page. Neal suffered an injury in pre-season. The budget that was completely spent then mysteriously got increased when Alnwick's agent approached Smurthwaite. Page was expecting to have to bring in Paddy Kenny on a short term deal because Smurthwaite told him there was no money left.

So after buying the club for £1.2 million and then supposedly putting

£4 million loans into the club he then put the club up for sale at

£5 million I think

Wonder if the selling price has dropped ?

Maybe only £2.5 million at the end of this year

It will drop if we get relegated he will have to pay someone to take it over.

Mind you he is a scavenger and took over Nuneaton when it was on its last legs.

He obviously has an hidden agenda or is completely incompetent.
