13 Con MPs and 7 Lab MPs in Scotland, Tories have more to lose to SNP who  are likely to side with Lab on EU votes, so probably a swing of 20 seats from the present.

SNP want to remain, Labour dont, they won't side with them unless there is a drastic change in Labour's brexit policy...... and there is a deal on an Indy ref.

Boris is in vote buying mode..... I'm guessing he will bend the issues towards people v politicians..... he has already given away millions (on paper pledges anyway) to suggest austerity 3 is a myth..... the opposition is fully focusing (all parties) on brexit... if he does call an election and it's opposed by Labour he will be a shoe in, because Cornyn has already rung that bell on a number of occassions..... the last being the temporary coalition,  installing himself as PM and calling an election ASAP.

From a distant view I'm guessing Boris didn't have to plan this strategy..... the opposing parties gave it to him on a plate

Farage is in control of the situation not Johnson, the Labour party have not yet produced their Manifesto, Johnson has been campaigning for 3 months on the media. Who has the most soldiers?

Labour are likely to change to Remain or new deal as an option, and the will of the people to be decide by a referendum .

I'm a bit confused. Apparently, speculation is rife that an election will be called imminently. If that happens, then parliament 'closes' and there are no MPs, right?

If this diagram is correct...

...then any election called during the next 2 weeks will result in a new government formed before leaving. Doesn't Johnson need an election to happen after Brexit to negate Farage? Also, if (as many have suggested) all this no-deal malarkey is just bluster to get us a better deal from the EU, when will parliament be able to vote on a new deal if an election is called after 3rd October? Just trying to fit the pieces together.

I suspect it isn't all bluster, I also suspect it isn't all about brexit either.... I have a sneaky suspicion Boris doesn't give much of a rats ass if we leave in October or not...... if we do he wins... if we don't the propaganda machine will up a gear against the politicians who prevented any movement.... either by attempts to block a deal, undermining a deal or frustrating the process and denying the referendum vote.... he doesnt win but he doesn't lose either.

Inadvertantly it will be another brexit vote..... not an in or out vote....

There is no new deal.... and what barganing chips do we have if no deal has gone...... if Labour suddenly go remain they shoot themselves in the groin and play into Johnson's hands.

That's the DUP, SNP tend to vote against the govt on EU matters.

They will side with anyone who will offer them another Indy ref...... the Tories won't..... Labour? Who knows..... I think the liberals will.

But it's immaterial unless it's a hung parliament

Preference would be to remain, their core support is in the metro areas, who voted remain or very close to it. Deprived areas and the North will be promised infrastructure investment, and social spend over 5 years not just for a year as with Johnson. If no-deal has happened, stop US links and go back to our EU neighbours, which would be the new deal.

Labour will but not yet, repairing links with the EU would reduce the pressure from the Scots.

Johnson can't call an election unless two thirds of the MPs agree because of the Fixed Term Parliament Act.  Will Labour agree in view of their appalling numbers in the recent polls?  Would they not want an election after Brexit and (possibly) with a sane leader?

Corbyn is 'sane' (whatever that means) and I think the only reason that Labour would refuse to back a GE is if Johnson was using it to drive through no deal. Incidentally, some news bod just tweeted "NEW: Remainer source says they expect PM to put down a dissolution motion (calling an election) with what appears to be a “reasonable” polling date before 31 Oct, trick MPs into voting for it, then use prerogative proclamation power to move polling day to after 31s Oct."
