Parent club AFC Bournemouth have told Port Vale how much football loanee Ben Whitfield can play, says Vale boss Neil Aspin. It couldn't get much worse in midfield for Aspin, could it? He can't play Regis for reasons that are not clear and now he's being told by Bournemouth when he can and can't play Whitfield. In the meantime, he's reduced to three geriatrics or players that simply are not good enough. I bet he can't wait for the transfer window to open. So let's hope he and Rudgie can unearth a gem or two. Fingers crossed.

I thought it was simply that they don't want Vale to rush him back. I guess from their perspective, he's an asset and they don't want Vale to put Vale's fortunes ahead of their players and potentially risk Whitfield getting injured again.

I appreciate Neil Aspin disagrees with the above and he does have a point in that Vale will have a good idea of whether he's ready to play or not but that's the deal with loan players - they are not owned by Vale so sometimes we have to obey the wishes of the club who actually own the players.

I just hope that Ben gets fit in time for the next League game - he could be crucial...
