Well you better get used to it sunshine because the people in Stoke-on-Trent ARE the PROBLEM as they keep voting for these Communists. Stoke has been in the hands of these Comrades all my life and they keep taking us to deeper and deeper depths. But pin a red and yellow badge on a donkey and the idiots in Stoke will vote for it.

You get what you vote for, so suffer the consequences.

That wasn't really my point. I'm not saying Stoke is likely to win any beauty contests this year, but neither is Rotherham. But what really annoyed me was the comparison to Auschwitz. Not because it's culturally insensitive or anything like that, it was just such a standard, unimaginative insult. The place name equivalent of 'your mum', only less funny.

 

And as an aside, I think the people of Stoke are entirely to blame for the state it's in. They have to be, every single one. Too happy/apathetic to change the fact that it's a ****hole, they seem almost to revel in it.

Aside from the points, valid or otherwise, about SoT compared to Rotherham (neither are particularly wonderful, as I'm sure the writer will acknowledge), I thought it was a good, even handed piece.
