You're kidding yourself if you think Yates is on a big wage. Good squad player that provides experience and depth. Pleased with this.

Whatever he,s on could have been spent on a player with potential to play in the first eleven or subsidise a decent players wages. When will Brown accept we need quality not quantity. He is filling the squad places with young kids and squad players instead of bringing in decent players.

You would have thought after his January window disaster he would have learned his lesson but a leopard doesn't change its spots and he is carrying on from where we were at the end of the season.

Yates has been a great servant to the club. He is a fan. For anyone who went Fleetwood you would have seen how much it hurt him at full time.

To have people like him in the dressing room is very important.

Sometimes it's not all about the ability on the pitch (although Yatesy still has plenty to offer on it) it's about getting a tight dressing room and characters who will demand 100% off all the other players.

Adam fits this mould. Just like Pope.

I'm glad he's about to sign.

He's more than dependable at league two level and a dressing room leader.

Good news, I doubt we would have been relegated had he been fit last season, last time he played we were a mid table league1 side.

Proposterous quote, we went down due to an inability to score and horrendous Goalkeeping signings once Alnwick left.

You really think a journeyman right back would of kept us up ?

For me this could stifle Gibbons development as lets say Purkiss signs, if he gets a knock it will be Yates covering not Gibbons.

Gibbons will be held back and probably released on a free in a couple of years having not played.

Its going to be interesting to see who's first choice right back next year, because its a big year for Gibbons. Does he break through or do the club send him out on loan at a better standard like they did with Smith when he was the same age? He could be our future right back if his development is handled well. Personally I think if Yates signs hes going to be cover for both full back positions. The same is true for Billy Reeves and Dan Turner too, big years for these young lads, lets hope they live up to their potential.
