Well i wanted my 5 bricks in the lorne st stand all together but of course there was no chance of that we are talking vale.So bill do the right thing and put it where it should be in front of the main building.

The right place for it has to be outside the main entrance although I guess it will be seen by more people at the Hamil end.

How do we know Bratt is trying to move it, is it just conjecture or is there actually a source as it seems to have been accepted this is the case without any direct proof?

I suggest you drop Dave Felstead (andy jones) a PM requesting information about how helpful the club, and Mr Bratt in particular, have been in trying to get the statue erected!

Dont forget about the claim "a parking space will be lost"

You've been elected to guard it with a gun, Chris - didn't you know? :D

As long as the pay is good!!! :D

Melv, I think the statue is going up in the right place, I was just pointing out that it will not be in a secure area.

There is plenty of proof. Mr Bratt has been obstructive in the erection of the statue for some time. If you want to know the full story, Dave Felstead is your man.

You would think that the Board would use the statue as an exercise to build bridges with the hundreds/thousands of fans they have alienated through their selfish behaviour.

By using delaying tactics (if that is the case) they are not only disrespecting a legend, they are probably losing what few supporters they have left!

How pathetic of Bratt & Co to put hurdle after hurdle in front of genuine fans (which Bratt claims to be) who have worked tirelessly for many years to complete this project.

Bratt should be proud that the club's supporters think so much of the legend that Roy is and would want the statue in a prominent position for all visiting directors/ players and supporters to view and admire.

Apparently not!

just been round lorne st, work has now started.

the steps have gone and an area of approx 20ft sq of tarmac and concrete has been broken out and dug up.

There is a large dumper and digger/breaker on site.

I can confirm that thanks to Bede the Sproson statue will definitely be at the Open Day and the 'plant' for the work is now on-site and some preliminary work undertaken.

Full commencement starts on Monday.

As part of this first phase the groundwork will be cleared to create the alcove and the statue will be erected, minus its plinth, and kept underwraps.

To complete the work we need to raise the cash for the granite plinth, the cost of the sponsors names going on the associated plaque.

Please give freely tomorrow please - nearly there.

The statue is truly magnificent.

Regards,

Dave F

Yes the collection buckets will be out, we have a stand, we have started work and the plant is on site, we are selling various stuff, I've just emptied my garage of everything from old Vale programmes to an unused holiday carry-cot - to a box full of coat hangers! and whatever anyone is willing to pay they will get the items cocnerned.

How much we still need also depends on how much we can still get sponsored. For instance a supplier has yesterday sponsored some of the materials we need.

Another very well known Vale fan's company has now sponsored one of the two major outstanding costs and that is the stainless steel handrails for the new steps. (Broxap quoted us £6,000 for them by the way. Bitter - moi?)

Is Bill Bratt happy the work has now started to honour a true vale legend? or is he still bitter that it is going where he wants it?

also, have any of the current dictators ever donated to the Sproson fund?
