Roy Sproson's statue progress

I nipped around to see how the work was coming along outside the Lorne St main entrance. What a shock an area around the steps cordoned off with barriers but as far as I could see no actual work had taken place. I thought it was supposed to be ready before the start of the new season but exactly which season is that going to be?.Why does nothing get done at Port Vale?.

This is not a criticism of the 'Sproson fund' as I am sure they are amongst the most frustrated of all.

shame that was hoping to see at least a bit of work started by now but not surprised by this at all, sorry to sound a bit negative on this but im still realy miffed about the clubs handling of the project from day one, i was told recently that the roy sproson statue will be the biggest sporting statue in britain so you would think it would be something that the club be very proud of indeed the city of stoke on trent but alas no which i find very sad indeed. Tony Boult ex Sproson Fund.

Well Bratt has been moaning to the planning department so that could of delayed matters, even though planning permission is in place, but Bratt wants it on the Hamil out of the way.

Has he put much money into it?

Does he own the land and so only he can decide where it is to be sited?

He's supposed to be stepping down anyway so he wont even need his parking space which has been more recently used as a resting place for a coffin.

dissapointed in this, havent been up to ground since end of last season, so was hoping to see the statue on sunday at open day and at least the site prepared for it to go on. not much respect being shown here towards the clubs greatest stalwart.

I am delighted to report major work has now been undertaken.......well they have put a banner on the barrier around the steps. If any construction has taken place they must be using invisibricks. You know the ones that you can't see!!!

What a club.

To be honest, it's not fair blaming this one on the board. Apparently the builders can't do much work just yet as they have to finish Hanley's new Bus Station first.

to be fair the whole club has let the memory of Sproson down, they should have been bending over backwards to accomodate this project years ago
