Canada makes a wise choice

Congratulations to the Liberal party for booting out right-wing American puppet and huge scumbag Steven Harper in the Canadian General election on a very left-wing programme that includes legalising marijuana, higher taxes for the megarich and borrowing to invest.

It proves people can be decent and honest when presented with facts properly, and augers well for other countries, well done Mr Trudeau.

I'd say YOU are pretty much everyone's problem. Why can't you give your pie eyed political crap a rest and keep your disrespectful views to yourself.

Pretty unfair as I started the thread, not him. There is also no reason why I shouldn't start a thread on Canada where I have reason to be interested, I've made a point and will post again if there is a decent reply with points of interest worth debating, so far the responses from post 3 have been pitiful hangovers from another thread and not a word about the Canadian election.

I think what worries a lot of people is that in Britain the same process has been started with the election of Corbyn as Leader of the Labour Party.

We then have the Tories breaking promises (remember the Poll Tax for Thatcher, and Student fees for Clegg) and this government are being exposed not only by Labour but also by a re-awakening electorate. People have realised it doesn't have to be this way.

Yeah. Be good to see Bernie Sanders getting the nod to be the Democrats candidate for the US elections too. He's got long odds, but so did Corbyn and stranger things have happened. Canada often seems to be the butt of jokes but I think it seems to be quite a progressive country. Plus it has my favourite comics publisher/ shop and Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub lives there...

Totally reasonable. I'll over look the anti American sentiment since i don't have the time for more of this Hobblington breed

I wouldn't have got involved in an ongoing slanging match anyway, so agreeing to differ and co-existence will have to be the order of the day.

A small point I would make is that I don't have an argument with the USA, or its people, beautiful place and some wonderful creative people that I have listed before. A lot of my favourite music comes from there, they do make the occasional good film and have some great authors, artists etc. I actually feel very sorry for the majority there though that are being used by corporations and profiteers.

I've been here before so don't want to start an ongoing debate but the kind of thing I am talking about is their actual lack of freedom, though it is packaged as the opposite, - the freedom to live without guns everywhere, the freedom to drink water that hasn't been fluoridated, the freedom to eat non-GMO food as they have taken away labelling and many similar things that we take for granted in most of Europe. They could also benefit from having political parties that don't rely on being mega-rich to have any chance as well.

It was worrying that Canada was moving the same way, but time will tell if things get better there, I hope they do.
