I have no idea why hooligans do what they do, as I'm not one.

 

I do though know that Vale have had this element for as long as I have been watching them (well over 40 years, man and boy).

 

I think it's naive to think a ban from the ground would deter someone who doesn't go there, and I think it's naive to think it will ever go away.

 

Look around the world for far,far worse examples of soccer hooliganism.

 

Sorry that's just the kind of apologist accepting of the situation crap that lets this filth win.

If you can find a way to eliminate the liking for a fight that exists in humans the world over, you'll be on to something.

 

But that is not the point. If everyone wants a fight, why is it that some clubs have far less of a problem than Vale. What is it that they are doing about their numpties that we aren't? Why is it that the vast majority of fans at Vale don't want a fight but a small minority of idiots do? Why is it that if they don't go to the games as you suggest, that they fight at football where there a loads of police and not in the back streets of Burslem where they could kick the crap out of each other without involving the football club?

 

The 1959 Notting Hill race riots were controlled at a stroke by exemplary sentencing of the perpetrators. Why would this not be a good idea now? Why can't we impose Matchday restrictions on these idiots? Sitting back and saying "I'm a realist" will serve no other purpose than to allow the situation to continue. Crime in all its forms will always be with us but that is not a reason to do bugger all about it.

Fighting in the back streets of Burslem would not generate the the required publicity and attention seeking that these knuckle-draggers desire.

I have said this before and make no apologies for it ... I quite like fighting. It makes me feel good and gives me a challenge. Having said that, its the reason that I am a member of a martial arts club where I go and train with like minded people and enjoy that sport. I have NEVER been remotely close to getting into trouble at a football match in over 30 years of watching Vale and can't ever imagine getting myself so angry with the game or opposition supporters that I would like one!!! For me, Football and fighting just don't go together regardless of the situation. Football is another opportunity to mingle with people from other parts of the country who like me are supporting their club and love the game.

 

So, I repeat my invitation to anyone who wants a fight ... come to training with me! There are loads of lads who come with me that train and fight - in a controlled and safe way with people of a like mine. DON'T involve innocent bystanders with your stupidity and DON'T bring the name of our great club down through your stupid antics. If you want to fight, find the right place at the right time with like minded people.
