Unbelievable ...

I base it on his signings made when he was manager, none of which were good enough for league football.

I was fortunate enough to play footy at a decent level to miss those days the glover I remember was a decent centre half playing under our best manager so I would say he knows his football and some of the abuse he gets is embarrassing and surely must be from the younger generation of vale fans

How do u know better than page if glover is a bad scout or not?

Clearly no-one knows but the signs are concerning. He's no previous scouting experience, a poor managerial record, poor record of signing players, were other candidates considered etc.

I think a lot of users are not saying that they KNOW he's a bad scout just that they are concerned that he may well be.

Glover was the finest defender I have seen at the Vale and I will always have fond memories of his playing days, but that has little to no relevance to his ability to do the current job he's paid for.

My personal concern is that for Glover's wage as chief scout were there other candidates with proven experience of League One scouting, with proven results of finding new players, assessing the opposition etc who could have done the job for the same wage? If not, and Glover has shown he can do the job then fair enough. But did club explore the idea of getting eligible people from outside the club to speak to? If not, can they really be surprised if people think this is a "lazy" and "ill thought-out" appointment.

I think we'd all be delighted if the fans are wrong and Dean Glover turns out to be in a role in which he can thrive. But I don't think it's any surprise that, with his past managerial record and complete lack of scouting work, many fans are concerned.

Rob Page himself told the Sentinel that this was an "important" role and you clearly need the best possible person in the role if it's an important one.

He didn't scout them though' date=' he managed them. He was a **** manager, great player, good youth coach and his role as Scout will be judged in due course. Who was the scout at the time?[/quote']

But he did sign them

Just out of interest who scouted Streete and Inniss......O'Sullivan is obvious as a Wales U21......Junior from Everton......so who scouted these players before Glover became Chief Scout or should that be Director of Football.....and who did the scouting reports on other teams.....Adams never bothered.

Not sure about who scouted Streete, but i think Inniss was offered to us rather than having been scouted/ spotted.
