Ridiculous, pathetic and stupid... Where will they draw the line and also control drinking in the ground? Having a few beers has always been part of going to a game before sky took over and tried and are still trying to sanitise the game. Used to be that going to football was a chance for blokes to have a few hours to them sen away from work and the family to meet with mates and talk crap over a beer or three, look at top flight t games now and its tourists and women who go the games and men are made to feel like outcasts for having a pint and shouting a bit. Most tv stations are geared to women, pubs are chastised for not incorouging families to eat there we as men have next to nothing left to enjoy withouth the interuption and interfering of adverts and Jeremy kyle designed to make us rush to the shops or ebay..... Let us have a beer in peace and watch a mans game we ain't got much else left. Gwanthevale

Agree Geo, but is it 'the edge of the wedge'? If successful will the powers that be want to extend it to other community and public settings e.g. nightclubs - or does that happen already in the UK?

Used by doormen aparently

Do they have a history of crowd problems at those sports?

Probably, possibly not. Sometimes it reeks of 'Big Brother is Watching You'.

************

Dear Mr Rules,

This is your authority to travel to Vale Park on Sunday 3rd May, 2015.

The route to be taken is shown on the enclosed 'Big Brother' map. Your journey by car from Bucknall to Vale Park is to commence at 1140 hours and barring unforseen circumstances (of which we will always know about) you will have sufficient time to drive, park and enter the 'Stadium at precisely 1210 hours.

After the game is finished you will allowed 15 minutes to 'catch up' with friends before returning to and be back home in Bucknall exactly 45 minutes later.

Breathalysers may be in use before and after games.

Please notify the undersigned should you not be going to Vale Park plus the reason(s) why.

The key issue being missed, I think because I didnt know, is that it is an offence to enter a sports arena intoxicated... the breathers will be used before entering, I understand, not whilst inside or leaving... possibly because there is no offence of being inside or leaving a sports arena whilst intoxicated... it also eliminates the human element of.... "who the bleedin ell says Im drunk".... the machine, no argument, bog off
