Today's officials - call me cynical?

The officials were very perculiar. In the second half the ref went from the sublime to the ridiculous by letting a obvious hand ball go (from a Vale player) and then giving a foul against Dodds for muscling his way in between two players fairly.

The "non-sending off" was a total joke and should be the end of that refs career. That does sound harsh but its such an easy decision.

1. Defender in near enough the centre line of the pitch on the edge of the box.

2. No other defenders near.

3. Defender gets the ball - he is the last man before the goalie.

4. Defender loses the ball to an attacker.

5. Defender brings attacker down. FOUL.

6. Attacker would need to turn and either shoot or pass to other Vale player who is on the other side of the defender on the ground.

7. Free kick - correct.

8. Defender is last man. Red Card.

Its a red. Doesn't matter what the intention was or whether the attacker was going to turn around 90degrees to face the goal. It was 2 on 1 with a distance of 15m before the goal line. The time it would take to turn and shoot would be less than two seconds - that's a goal scoring opportunity.

MK Dons should have been down to ten men. No doubt in my mind.
