I've just noticed my 2nd team got stuffed 10-0 by Hearts.

 

Zeefuik scored a hat trick netting in the 26, 27, 29 minute. The 1st & 3rd goals were penalties. I wonder if that is some kind of record. Cowdenbeath also gave away a 3rd penalty in the 57 minute.

 

A good day for the Vale but not for Cowdenbeath.:(

I think I remember reading that Tony Naylor once scored 3 goals for Vale in about 4 mins possibly against Wrexham but not sure, about early 1990s.

Willo's hat-trick against Hartlepool (10 minutes) earlier in the season was the fastest since Andy Jones back in the '80s (8 minutes).

Three goals in as many minutes were Kerr and Cross (2) in October-ish 1993, the promotion season. Naylor signed the season after.

Vale as I recall also beat Notts County twice in the late 80's at Meadow lane 2-1 and 4-1 1987-88 and 1988-89 seasons respectively- I would call meadow lane a happy hunting ground

Why are Cowdenbeath your second team?? My 2nd team is Man Utd, due to the excellent players they had post 1990 and the fact I watched them- but in your case ??

That wasn't a good period in our history.

That stands as a record home defeat in the league.

Why are Cowdenbeath your second team?? My 2nd team is Man Utd, due to the excellent players they had post 1990 and the fact I watched them- but in your case ??

 

A coach load of us Vale fans travelled up to watch Cowdenbeath back in the 90's when we didn't have a game one weekend. I can't remember who had the idea but "The Blue Brazil" were in dire straits at the time & hadn't won a home game for about 18 months. We left The Swan in Burslem at silly o'clock in the morning and caused quite a stir once we got there especially amongst some Celtic fans drinking in the area. Cowdenbeath lost 2-1 to Forfar (I think) & we had our photograph taken by the local paper who did a feature on us with quotes & everything. We presented both teams with Port Vale pennants which was also photographed & footie shirts were exchanged between fans in a post match drinkathon. A good day was had by all and we got back to The Swan at about midnight.

A couple of their fans travelled down to VP later that season. Because of that one game I've always checked up on their games & gone onto their website etc & all because of one game 20 odd years ago.

I think James Hayter has the league record doesn't he?(for fastest hattrick) I seem to remember he scored 3 pretty quickly a few years ago when at Bournemouth.

Yes I think that might have been against Wrexham. Always thought it was 3 goals in 90 seconds. Given we would have had to win the ball back as well its pretty good going.

I knew the hat trick was quickish but it was the 2 penalties that Cowdenbeath gave away in quick succession that I thought may be a record.
