Considering all the conspiracy and in the know people on here I am quite surprised with this entry

I dressed up as a SMURF at the Wickham game for a very good cause which raised over 30k

I had no problems doing that and to be honest at the time assumed my involvement with Port Vale was shortly coming to a end

I have no problem with you dressing up for whatever reason, I have no problem with you buying players if thats what you want to do, I dont even have a problem with you thinking some supporters may be better suited to another team.... I would prefer you just get on with it and not do the clubs PR but thats just a preference... I would have also preferred you to consider why some supporters prefer away games and make changes accordingly without making a statement about it and not made strange [just my opinion] statements about why you purchased players.

Just get on with it, its your money do with it what you will, by all means keep us informed if you wish but try to do it in a professional way... like a business man.

Speaking "forensically", I think he got caught up in all the adulation he received towards the end of the promotion campaign. Dressing up as a Dutch cartoon character did him no favours IMHO. It altered the fan's perspective of what could, subsequently, transpire. He is a hard-nosed businessman and we all need to realise that. What he needs, as I've said all along, is a top quality CEO.

Whats wrong with having a character thats what I want to know? Why do we need to pay money, best spent elsewhere, on some numpty just so they can put some smarmy spin on everything. I may not always agree with Smurf but we have the best team we have had for years and we are heading upwards so he will do for me

I do think all of this puts Page in a difficult position:

 

Scenario 1) Page does not pick Smurfs signings and he's out of favour with Smurf

 

Scenario 2) Page picks the loan signings over contracted players, the loan signings then leave at the end of their loan. Page is then left with a group of players that were dropped like a lead balloon and needs to get them all onside and committed to the cause (assuming he gets the job).

 

I think given the position Page is in he has done remarkably well to keep the dressing room together and pick up the points tally that he has.
