So - there's actually nothing to suggest these will be thrown straight into the team - in fact, exactly the opposite, since "nurturing" suggests looking after their development until they are ready for the first team!!

Some interesting quotes in there.

The chairman said: "I feel now that I can have a bigger impact. I would never have agreed to doing this with Micky. In fact, Micky would never have agreed to it.'

 

So clearly we have a chairman his is going out, scouting players and bringing them to the club. He's then got a young, eager to please manager who is under orders to stick them in the team. Alarmingly, it seems we're one step away from being Smurf's fantasy football team.

 

Let's try and be objective and imagine the reaction if the same things had come out of Bill Bratt's mouth 5 years ago. Let's say he was bringing young lads to the club, and ordering his young manager to stick them in the team because he thought they had potential sell on value. Would that have been applauded or would people be off to the butchers to buy some cheaper cuts of meat?
