After a season a lot better than I thought i'am worried that people will not pay on the gate due to been safe (happy days) and the opposition been less than attractive even tho the players deserve a lot of credit for what they have done. What I'am trying to say is at the same point last season the gates were a lot better due to the promotion push and now the wages are a lot higher we need better gates to improve on this season with new signings for next year.

If we can stay within 6 points of the playoff we will continue to exceed 5,000 home fans. Interesting that currently last playoff place is the Posh and we are there last match.

It's essential we keep within touching distance of the play-offs to keep that interest alive with paying punters.

As the original post says, we'll be looking at dire crowds if we're too far adrift in a few weeks because playing for nothing in league 1 is even less interesting than a league 2 promotion push (with the exception of games against the likes of Wolves). This is the difference from league 1 to the Championship. There are games against teams that even during a struggle would attract bigger crowds because of the size of clubs and their travelling support.

With the budget being cut and a probable struggle next season we need to take advantage of the position we have put ourselves in.

Smurthwaite says we're not in a position not to go into the Championship but I don't think we can afford not to. I'm not sure where we go from here really if we don't go all out this season. A budget cut will lead to losing some of the better players, possibly leading to a struggle which in turn will affect gates. I'm still not clear on Smurthwaites policy of increasing gates which seems one of his biggest concerns - partic as I'm expecting a ST increase this year.

I think we've reached the time in the season where the club should look at introducing some price incentives e.g. Like Shrewsbury's £15 per adult if purchased early or perhaps a £10 special for an unattractive game like Crawley (H).

Yeah absolutely, also lets plan now for next season. Attend all the final games of the season and get 20% off a season ticket or refer a friend deals etc. Something proactive would be nice

that's already been tried and still does not put extra bums on seats. except for promotion push.

Personally, I think a few match day ticket incentives targeting the casual fan and kids should happen, especially on Saturday games in March and April when the weather picks up.

Even if it's just part of a longer term strategy to maintain an interest in the match-day experience.

If we're within a couple of wins from a play off position then all the better.

This is where someone earns their money. The choice of game is vital - has to be at a point that we're close to moving into the play offs (if we're lucky enough), pref against a rival and on a Tuesday night when gets would be lower............and even then you're in the lap of the Gods with the weather.

There is no point in reducing prices if it will merely be the regulars just getting a cut price game.
