World Cup Predictions

Recommended Posts

Something for us to look back on next year and laugh at how far off our predictions are…there are always surprises and teams not turning up as they should, so I've taken that into account for my prediction…I think England's group is extremely tight and will go down to the last game/last ten minutes between three teams.

Group A: Brazil 1st, Mexico 2nd

Group B: Spain 1st, Netherlands 2nd

Group C: Colombia 1st, Japan 2nd

Group D: Italy 1st, England 2nd

Group E: France 1st, Switzerland 2nd

Group F: Argentina 1st, Iran 2nd

Group G: Germany 1st, USA 2nd

Group H: Belgium 1st, Korea Republic 2nd

Round of 16:

Brazil v Holland - Brazil to win

Columbia v England - England to win

France v Iran - France to win

Germany v Korea Republic - Germany to win

Spain v Mexico - Mexico to win

Italy v Japan - Japan to win

Argentina v Switzerland - Argentina to win

Belgium v USA - Belgium to win

Quarter finals:

Brazil v England - Brazil to win

France v Germany - France to win

Mexico v Japan - Mexico to win

Argentina v Belgium - Argentina to win

Semi Finals:

Brazil v France - Brazil to win

Mexico v Argentina - Argentina to win

Final:

Brazil v Argentina - Brazil to win

Third place playoff:

France v Mexico - Mexico to win

i think we will have done amazing to get through the group stages. for me, i think its going to be relatively a surprise winner, i agree with the person that said it will suit an african team or someone like uruguay. any1 got the odds available?

A little too soon, as events in the next 6 months can shape it all - if Suarez got injured, for example, I would give Uruguay little chance of getting anywhere near the last 8, with him they could be semi-finalists at least.

England will huff and puff and might just get through the group, but not much further.

Columbia and Argentina will give Brazil a run for their money, but I can't see a European team winning it as the odds are stacked against them (not to mention the officials ! - just you wait).

Surprises - Chile ? USA ? hopefully not, but maybe they have the best chance.

I'll have another look when I come out of hibernation in March.

Would have copied your post Burt and the inserted the teams that I think will get through, but it`s a little difficult as you haven`t listed the 4 teams in each group. So all I will say at present is that it`s bound to be a final win for Brazil,or at least another South American side, with Spain and Portugal being Europe`s only realistic hopes with possibly Italy.

As for England`s chances, pretty low.Tough group that if we scrape through can only see quarters at best sadly.

As things stand today....

I'd pick Germany to win

Brazil to get to the final..only the Germans would have the b@ll$ to beat them on their own patch

Don't know if this is possible given the draw but Spain and Belgium to fail at the semis

As to England..I think we'll fail to get out of the group..Italy and Uruguay will beat us comfortably..we just can't defend

Argentina's attack if fit includes Messi (4 time world player of the year), Aguero, Tevez, Higuain and de Maria. They can't all get on the pitch at the same time and last world cup they disregarded defence. But that is some talent and a fit Messi can help bolster his claim supported by club goals that he is the best striker if not player of all time. My half hour recording of his 91 goals in 2012 (12 for Argentina) includes a hat trick against Brazil. They are currently number 2 in the FIFA world rankings.
