DOHA Radio

I think it's new for this season. The app is really good. Has all previous games highlights, player interviews and you can also listen to the game with the app in the background so you can still browse the internet. Perfect if you want to keep track on how your fantasy football team is doing!

The reputation thing is seriously a red herring - it works, it doesn't fail and only one person has had more than a couple of problems with it within the same season. As I said, they gave a free month for the one time there was a genuine problem, and Rob F made a point of checking and finding that it wasn't the club at fault but a technical issue way back down the process.

As for the cost, it is under 15p a day - that's the cost of half a cigarette, a twentieth of a pint of beer or about a tenth of a bag of chips. If you can honestly and hand-on-heart tell me that the only reason you don't buy it is because that is too expensive, then fine. I myself am very short of the folding stuff but it's very easy to make a saving elsewhere.

Of course, it's your personal choice and if you don't want VP then nobody can have a problem with that, but I find it hard to accept that the price of it is an issue.

I reckon that with the interviews and other related stuff as well as the match commentaries it is good value and can't really understand why a few people (not aimed at you) have made it a mission to put VP down.

Years ago, (1990's?) we only had a terrible rubbish service on the phone called Clubcall / Teamtalk and that really was expensive ! They waffled to make the call long, and it was easy to rack up £1 or £2 a call every day for a snippet of transfer rumours pre-internet, pre-OVF and pre-Valiant Player. We are lucky compared to then.

We're very fortunate with all the coverage these days. I remember living in Los Angeles in the 80's ,

and it cost a dollar a minute to ring home for the football results , or wait a week until the papers came from my brother.

One Sunday morning I was reading the Los Angeles Times , and there in the bottom corner of the last sports page was a result that I couldn't believe. Port Vale 2 Tottenham Hotspur 1 . The internet is amazing, and has changed everything. Sometimes I take it for granted, but then I think back to those days and count myself lucky. :)

Very suprised at how many people are encouraging this. It is clearly taking funds away from the club.

Very pleased to hear that 'Doha radio' is dead.

It's not dead it's on mixlr. I wouldn't pay for Valiant player, I already have a season ticket. But I have used Doha's streams before (incidentally when in Chennai).

Think I may have to look into to getting a link on to Mixlr just to spite Af1985. I live in stoke and the MW signal in my house is rubbish, so if I had morals to your standard I would either move house or buy VP to get commentary on away games.

Does anyone know why Iplayer does not play the football commentaries for live football games, at the end of the day we pay for it with the licence fee. I know it says due to contractual issues, but I have a contract with BBC that says I can watch and listen to any of their shows so why can't I listen to this???

Oh right, so what I'm saying is similar to telling people to MOVE HOUSE to get radio signal. You're clearly another highly intelligent contributor to this forum. Have you ever thought about joining Mensa?

So why should I pay again to listen to the commentary of away games? I would not pay sky and pay virgin just in case the single was bad to my sky dish...... So I used the DOHA channel which was when all said and done just listening to BBC radio.

But in your eyes this makes me a thief with no morals and no loyalty to the vale because they are not getting their cut of the VP costs. You have made some ridiculous comments on this thread.

Slightly off topic but worth a mention. The one time when Valiant Player didn't work for the first half of the PV vs Bristol City game it did work (certainly for the 2nd half) via the Bristol City commentary. This commentary was awful and amateurish compared to the Radio Stoke's team of Blakeman, Cullerton and Phil Bowers (?).

You still haven't answered my question: If you live in the locale and Vale are playing away, are you expecting everyone to pay to listen to something that they can already get for no extra cost on Radio Stoke?
