Favourite away ground

Ok folks what's your favourite away ground not the best anfield etc but the one you have great memory's of- mines Exeter auto glass area final,crap away stand but always have a great time there.:upthevale:

My favourite was my first away ground - the Gay Meadow at Shrewsbury. Sadly now long gone.

Chesterfield's old Saltergate deserves a mention for me. Scene of our classic 5-0 hammering on our last ever visit there. What a day that was.

Fleetwood has to be up there for me. Just for last season. When we won there that's when I knew we actually had a really good chance of promotion.

Difficult to think of one particular favourite and increasingly running out of decent ones and the criteria for me being....

Actually in the town of it`s name...not built of plastic in an an industrial/retail park.

Surrounded by pubs,chippys,takeaways.

Near to a rail station.

Free on street parking nearby.

Standing area.

Smoking area.

Well staffed refreshments,pies,chips,snacks and ideally alcohol.

Stewards that dislike the home team as much as we do.

Burton, for the sausage and chips alone. For atmosphere, Brighton away and the Shrewsbury match which was abandoned, are my favourite ever away days.

Hated Fellows Park, always losing, loved Spotland, great pie&peas, Griffin Park, pub run, crap game. Fav for me Gay Meadow, great town, good old fashioned footie ground and a p****r when the ball used to fly over the stand and the old geezer used to collect it on his QE2.

Ditto, the best day ever.

 

Bloomfield Road is also etched in my head from the season before. Emotional roller coaster: the rumour that Preston were beating Bolton, then we took lead - cue major mental, then the devastation of learning that Bolton had won.

blackpool away in the 90s, I remember going for a burger while in the Q with me brother and the hatch collapsing on me head while I was wearing a Viking hat (closest think to dutch we found for van der laan) That was the season there keeper was stuck on the motorway and they unveiled their crazy plans for a glass roofed stadium.

 

Other than that my first away day at burnley Jeffers came on for 30 seconds nutted someone and was sent off.

 

Oh and Barnet has to be there for its "country pub"
