Good ideas if they want to gain an understanding of coaching methods and success in other countries.

Paul Ince would have been the ideal Black candidate. Played at the top and managed at the bottom so has seen both sides. OR dare I say Robert of Earle who knows what its like to be overlooked cos you play for a "non trendy" club

The latter three all have their UEFA pro-license, and know a thing or two about football.

 

Recruiting Rio is the equivalent of a last minute panic buy to appease a relative you don't much care about.

Yes, that's a possibility. The problem is that when individuals are selected on a personal basis rather than through an open process of application there is a lack of transparency, so I guess we'll never know. The way the FA Commission has been put together smacks of who you know rather than what you know.

You would read the article below and revisit your opinion. Rio Ferdinand was an excellent footballer but comments such as the one made in the article indicate he shouldn't be in any role of responsibility. Note the comments of John Amaechi.
