England v Poland

For Us All

Recommended Posts

He is the international equivalent of Ben Williamson, fine until he needs to do something important like score a goal or play a killer pass, then he panics. Sturridge is a better option, as he has Welbeck's trickery and unpredictability, but can also score goals.

Good analogy! :)

Whilst his record isn't actually bad at international level it hasn't been great for Man United and for England against the better teams.

Don't think many fans expect too much from the current team but that might work in our favour?

Thats definitely a good thing, normally the media build them up and up and up and then try to knock them down as I see they have already started to try and do today with Hodgson!

We are not going to be one of the seeds, expectation should be lowered significantly from previous tournaments and Hodgson has shown he is prepared to give younger players the chance to come through which will help for future tournaments too.

Quarter finals would be great, anything else would be an brilliant.

Oh and press pack, stay off their flipping backs, don't over hype them and let them see if they can perform as they have in the last two games more regularly and indeed in tournament football....

Heard this morning that apaprently there was no complaint but that one of his coaching staff took him to one side and explained what he saw as the conotations of the joke..and it's all mushroomed from there

No player has complained..apparently

Also the fellah from the Society of Black Lawyers was on this morning harping on about it..he does my head in

Also

Prior to the FA's statement of support for Hodgson, Piara Powar, executive director of Football Against Racism in Europe (Fare), told the BBC that the England boss had got it wrong.

"This was a silly phrase to use in a diverse workforce," he said.

My God..I work with a very diverse workforce..what next I can't say I'm going for a Chinese tonight or I liked the assault courses in the TA but the monkey bars were too much for me or careful when you drive home tonight as that A338 bend is a real accident blackspot

Madness when there is so much real racism out there..I'm sticking to what happened on the pitch and what's going to happen at Brazil 2014

Exactly. This kind of thought-police nonsense isn't the enemy of racism; it's racism's best ally. The sheer blather of a term like 'diverse workforce' (meaning, I assume, people with recent relatives outside Western Europe; we can guess that North American owners of companies don't count) shows up this pomposity better than anything.
