Duffy is a centre back not a right back. If Alexander is good enough, he should be our reserve right back. Apart from anything else, Yates is the one player on the Vale side who is always available for a pass - in other words he plays off the ball as well as on it.

Out of interest what do you perceive Adam's "Young" player policy is ? And are you advocating that Alexander should be in the team or in the squad ?

MA is not a big fan of kids.......I personally think Young Players like Cheye Alexander should on occasions be added to the 1st team for experience and maybe a Subs role......BTW i am NOT knocking Adams as in the end its his decision as he is paid handsomely to Manage our Club....

I think young players like Alexander should be added to the either the team or the squad when they are good enough and not as some token gesture. We had a lot of young players in the team before Adams arrived and we were a laughing stock ; I for one am glad that his attitude has helped bring back respecibility to the club I love.

I think some supporters need to wake up and smell the coffeee : vale have never produced any good youngsters right the way from the youth team (say aged 12 - 14) to the first team : the academy team is made up of youngsters disgarded by other teams and none of whom will make any money from the game.

For Vale to have a proper chance of developing young players I would say we are approx 7 years away from that even if we started planning now : maybe 2 years to establish ourselves as a league 1 club and 5 years (and a significant chunk of money diverted from the first team) away from having some youth team players making the first team and being sold for money. remember of all the younger players Adams has released not one of them are playing in a higher league than Vale and I think that says it all really about the standard of our youngsters and how people can blame Adams for this is beyond me.

If the club produced youngsters good enough he would play them : remember his first signings were two youngsters who he brought from Brighton, one of them was good enough (Loft) and one of them wasnt (Frasier) : Adams selects the one who was good enough every game barring injury and has even named him as Captain : If the club hadnt been in such a mess over the past umpteen years they may even have been able to sell him on at a profit at the end of this season by ensuring his contract had about 3 years to run but as usual he will go for nowt cus he will have scored double figures from midfield and captained a midtable team but be out of contract

In summary, I guess its each to their own but i think the way Adams has changed the team since Sinnott and Glover by disgarding the youngsters who are clearly not good enough but developing people like Loft is the main reason vale remained in the football league when we were awful and now show signs of being a decent league 1 team.

indeed. none of the youngsters that adams 'refused to play' have been anywhere near good enough in hindsight. i'm sure if any of this development squad are good enough for the first team, then that's where we'll see them.

Since he's been away, when we concede the move seems to come from his side of the field, the last two goals against Wolves for example. He was excellent up until his injury and provided he's come through this game fit he'll be in contention on Saturday.

Alexander looks like the best prospect for first team action at the moment I think. Or maybe Hughill when he returns from his loan spell.
